Long story short , from next month i am moving out because off colleague . My current gaming rig (GTX460 SLI , I920 , 6GB DDR3 ) will stay at my hometown for my family .

I need to build a new one ( i will spend more than 7 months away from home so i need a good one ) . I am a complete noob with this things , but this is something i came up with .

Cooler Master HAF X
Gigabyte-ga-x58a-ud3r
Intel i7 930 @ 2.80GHz
ASUS GTX 480
3X2 GB DDR3 Muskhin PC1600 Blackline Stiletoo
DVD+-RW Samsung SH - s222A, ATA
Chieftec CFT-750-14CS , 750W , Cable managment
750GB Seagate Barracuda SATA2, 7200 RPM
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Logitech G9X
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus
G51 , 5.1

I know that GTX 460 SLI is faster than a single GTX480 , but i don't feel like having 4 GTX460 cards lol . I will get an sound card later on this year . Already have a 32" Samsung which i will bring as a HDTV/Monitor . And also i got an OS , Windows 7 64BIT ULTIMATE .

Just don't post a whole new rig . Just need an advice on which parts should i change and which to keep . English is my second language so sorry if i made a lot of mistakes .

I already said that i don't want to have 4 GTX 460's lol .

2 changes by the way :

1)HDD : 750GB Seagate Barracuda SATA2, 7200 RPM ---> HDD : 1TB samsung HD103SJ , 72000 rpm , 32MB

2)DVD DRIVE : DVD+-RW Samsung SH - s222A, ATA --- > DVD+- RW Samsung SH - S223C SATA

Planning on changing the PSU and cooler also .

ya 2 gtx 460's beat a 480 but then you can go overclock that 480 to make it a beast or with some cash you could always add 2 more 480's ;) on that mobo (buying the same one)

Everything should work fine. Though maybe go with a GTX 470 and then pick another one up down the line for SLI. The 470's aren't quite as power hungry and hot as the 480's. Also, if you plan on SLI with the 480 you will need a bigger power supply. I would recommend a PSU from Corsair or Antec. Are you buying the mouse and keyboard? If so, you could just pick up a normal keyboard and save a few bucks.

I don't plan on going sli with this rig i am building , so i think that the GTX 480 should do fine .

Also , new change , i will get i7 950 instead of the i 930 . Will CM HYPER 212 + be enough to cool it ? I don't plan to do any overclocking with this rig .

The heatsink should do fine, even for overclocking.

ive heard some people are having problems overclocking the 950's (theres a bad batch of them is what i heard) maybe someone here can shine some more light on the matter anyway im buying a 930 just in case and as far as i can tell the 950 really only has a higher clock speed anyway so you could just overclock the 930 and save some $

Nah mate , won't plan on overclocking this rig . Just want some ok cooler which will keep it nice and cool . The current beast i have is overclocked like hell :D ( i7 920 @ 4.1 currently )

Now only need to decide which PSU to get . And also , as i don't plan on upgrading this rig ( will sell it when colleuge finishes ,in 3-4 years i hope lol , ) the GTX 470 would last me a little less than a single gtx480 .

You should switch to a more reputable brand of PSU, like corsair.

Ok , will do . Gona check later which PSU from those brands they have .

Few questions :

Graphic card :

1) Now i am in a real doubt lol . Which card should i get , GTX480 or GTX460 SLI ? I know that i said that i don't want to have '' 4 " GTX 460 cards lol , but dunno which card will do better on a 32" Samsung monitor ? Will GTX480 play on 2560 x 1600 or whatever the native resolution for it is ?

Motherboard :

2)I talked to a friend and he recommended me an another board . Which of these two should i get :

ASUS P6X58D-E or Gigabyte-ga-x58a-ud3r

3) This is the least of the problems , but would like advice . G15 Keyboard or G510 logitech keyboard ?

Thanks in advanced lads :)

Any of the mobo's from ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, and EVGA are good boards. It just matters what features you want and how much you want to pay for it.

That looks like it will be a good setup. If you get a 480 now remember to get a good psu with enough power for SLI (if you intend to get another one down the line). I would get a psu with at least 850w and preferably one from a reliable manufacturer. Nvidia will likely have new gpu's out by next summer and AMD is releasing the HD 6000 series at the end of Oct or the beginning of Nov.
