I right now have a core 2 duo e6300 cpu but I am looking to get a q6600. Will this help me upgrade in my Frame rate and graphics. I am now preparing for all the games coming out.

Right now I have

e6300 cpu

geforce 8800gtx

4 gigs of ram 8400

2 raptor drives

450 watt power supply

xfi fatality edition sound card

I am looking to upgrade the power supply to a 700 watt bfg and the cpu to a q6600. Is a quad core going to help? for games like bioshock, UT3, Crysis, COD4 and Alan Wake?

Your processor should be fine... Your 4gb should definitely help Crysis... Your wattage for your Power Supply is fine, but make sure it's a good PSU in general. In case you ever want to go SLI, I'd recommend eventually ugpgrading your Power Supply Unit.

According to anandtech, right now a dual core may be faster for games than the quad cores.

Now with today games? I hardly don't think you will notice anything at all.

With your current setup you're perfectly fine.

As for future games that "if/are build in mind" for Dual/Quad-core I'm sure it will help. Just how far are those game from today?

Can't tell you bud, however if money are not an issue I guess it wouldn't hurt to have Quad, now would it :)

idk how much more fps you want to get but you can play all games on max graphics...i'd say get better supply power - it might help coz 450W for 8800GTX is a bit low - isn't it?
