Yeah, I wouldn't plan on overclocking that Q9300 to 3.4GHz and having it stable 24/7. That's over a 450MHz bus speed, and a fairly decent overclock on RAM that might not be able to handle it. Not saying it won't happen, but don't plan on it.

And get a better power supply. The X3 line is the only worthy line of power supplies from Ultra.

the q6600 will more than likely (g0 stepping ofcourse) get up to3.6 or higher with that cooler, but ebery chip is different,

and if i were you i wouldnt by ultra as for theprice, u should invest in something form antec, ocz, or corsair. If you want modular, then id go wtih a corsair 620w modular, should power that setup and a second 9800 as well

Pick up a q6600 or q9450 and for the psu, i would recommend the corsair hx620W. Maybe even the VX550. You don't exactly need that much wattage for your system

The 9800GTX is a rip off. You can get two 9600GTs for the same price and it will smoke one 9800GTX.

What? 9600GT's are a step back from 8 series, 1 9800GTX SSC will do the same, and i've got the chance to put 2 in SLI, what kind of PSU do i need to run 9800GTX's on SLI? Thanks to ALL!! =D

I wouldn't recommend SLI'd 9800GTX's unless you're gaming over a 24" monitor. If you are, I would recommend the PC Power and Cooling 750W power supply.

I think you should change to a GO Q6600, then overclock that to 3.4ghz.

Actually i would stay with the Q9300 the latest maximum pc mag puts the Q9300 ahead of the Q6600 in almost every catagory.

At stock, sure - it's to be expected, the Q9300 only loses 1MB of L2 cache, but gets an extra 100MHz in clock speed, and the Core 2 Quad processors are not starved for L2 cache unless you go below 2MB per core. The Q6700 is about the same price, and will likely perform better than the Q9300, and will certainly overclock better.
