So I'm getting ready to buy all the parts for my new build and I just noticed that the ram I'm buying says "Supply voltage 1.65 V" whereas my motherboard states "Memory 4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory" Can I run the Ram on the motherboard, and will it damage it or not? I read something about 1.65V damaging i7 or something? Thanks My mobo: GA-P55-UD3 this rams: OCz DDR3 4GB (2x2GB) 1333MHz Platinium CL7 LOW VOLTAGE (OCz3P1333LV4GK) with 1.65V

It shouldn't damage it. DDR3 RAM usually run between 1.5V and 1.65V. Now if you're talking about the higher 1.7-1.9V ones, then that could damage it as that is usually where overclocked ram run in. But overall though, you should be fine.

I have the P55-UD3 mobo. The manual states that 1.5v RAM is the standard but you can overclock it higher. If I were you, I would stick with the mfg specs and overclock to meet your needs. The Gskill 2x2Gb PC12600 should be fine.

i just read this info but on another mobo: Unbuffered, non-registered single- or double-sided DIMMs with a voltage rating of less than 1.6 V. Using a DIMM with a voltage rating higher than 1.6 V may damage the processor. link: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dp55wb/sb/CS-030682.htm So on mine Ga-P55-UD3 this risk of damage can be too? Or only on this mobo , what i give link
