Alrighty i was at Best Buy yesterday browsing their laptop selection, The gateway FX series caught my eye because i heard that their 8800 GT MXMs can run crysis and other new games on high. While in BB i ran system requirements lab on the 2 models they had. i checked how crysis would work on them, both of the laptops were well over the recommended specs however the CPU was below the required. This surprised me because they were 1.8Ghz Core 2 duo's. But under more info or whatever on the web site it said a 2.0 Ghz CPU is required.

Is it not registering the 2 cores? or does Crysis need a dual core over 2.0 GHz?

Minimum Requirements

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista), Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista), AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or better RAM: 1GB (1.5GB on Windows Vista) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or better VRAM: 256MB of Graphics Memory Storage: 12GB Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible ODD: DVD-ROM OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

Crysis System Requirements

It says it needs a intel core above 1.8, meaning the clock of the two cores don't stack. I don't know if all Intel Core 2 will work though.

I don't know if It will run (you can get past minimum requirements sometimes) but it certainly won't run too well.

i guess it really doesnt bother me if the game can play crysis but i want it to be able to play some newer games at good graphical settings smoothly. Do you think it will be able to play a game like Splinter Cell Conviction when it comes out?
