I just got Gears of War. I installed it. That took a long-ass time because it had to decompress an assload of files. That doesn't actually matter (I don't think), it was just really annoying. But then it finished downloading and just dissappeared. No confirmation of the install. No demands of a CD-Key. Nothing. It apparently installed, because when I re-inserted the disc, the auto-start gave me the "Play" option in place of the "Install" option. But I clicked play and it said it was the wrong disc. I found the game in the program files and tried to start it from there, and it said it was the wrong disc. I tried to run it from a desktop shortcut, and it said I have the wrong disc. THERE'S ONLY ONE DISC! Any ideas? I'm about to seriously pissed off right neow.

Did anyone ever find a fix for this? I've encountered the same problem....1 disk, no prompts for a cd-key. Game installs after about 15 minutes.

When I kick of the game, my pc thinks for a minute, and then no trace of the app at all. I've reinstalled several times, bought off the shelf, ran various patches I've read about, nothing does any good.

I just planned on the single player route, so I shouldn't need Windows Live in order to play, unless they're integrated somehow.

Nothing like paying $50 for a game, then doing all the leg work to try to get it to work. Microsoftgames support site has you jumping through all kinds of hoops in device manager changing the settings on any IDE devices...do people even run IDE anymore?? I thought SATA was mainstream now.

The game looks and sounds really cool, but for now, it licks balls.

Go to the Epic forums. Gears of war was sent as one buggy package. I never had problems with that but when you get into the game you'll lose all your saves and no matter what PC you have it'll stutter. etc..... but people on the Epic forums found fixes

hah, seems as thought Microsoft should stick to releasing buggy office apps and leave the games to EA. I'm having more trouble with this than I did with Valve and the Orange Box.
