I bought this card about a year ago (PNY 550ti) wasnt my first choice, my CF 5770's burnt out - so I had to make a mad dash to Best Buy and purchase on a budget.

At first, I was astonished how well it performed, but lately it's been giving me problems. And I dont mean on This years games either.

When I first started Playing Borderlands 2 I could all buy Max out the GFX at 1900x1200, everything on high except for Antroscopic Filtering.

But When i revisited it, Its now Glitchy and and plays like a slide show.? At first I thought it was the latest drives, (which it kinda was - since I rolled back to a 6 month prior driver) But its still not as smooth as it once was.

Anyone else using this card and Having the same problems? And if so - any suggestions?

The 550ti is okay, but it definitely isn't the best thing out there. You should order your next card online from a site like Newegg. You'll get much more for your money.. But, to increase performance, try disabling antialiasing, or at least use FXAA instead of MSAA / SSAA. You should be able to use anisotropic filtering x8 without issues. You can choose performance over quality in the nVidia control panel without noticing a difference.. Also, you can crank the GPU fan speed up to 100% and overclock the card to 950MHz. MSI Afterburner, eVGA Precision, and Asus GPU Tweak should all work with your card, though be sure not to use more than one a time, as that could damage your it...

now that u have nVidia, u haven't accidentally enabled phsyX, that will destroy ur performance on a low end card.

Will you try the following:

Remove all drivers from the PC that associate with the nvidia drivers. Use a driver removal tool

Then install drivers from scratch after reboot.

Try a graphics card program test, like 3dmark or something along those lines

See if your Frame per second come close to what it should be at.....

I think Kungfoo - kitty up there had the right idea, activating the Physx is probably Destroying my perfomance. I'll give that a shot..

you may never have encountered that setting before, i know i still enable every setting i can with my rig, but my GF's PC has a GTX275 in it, that runs PhysX pretty well in borderlands 1 and 2

Your PhysX suggestion did the trick. I completely wiped out all my previous drivers, and reinstalled the latest update - Excluding PhysX and and the excess 3d support and all runs fine.

I am considering on getting a new card though. How would you suggest the EVGA GTX 660? $214.00 and factory Superclocked ?

Thanks again for the advice.

general rule of thumb is go ti, or go home, unless ur PSU restriced. 660ti's are awesome compared to the non-ti models. But now, why look at a 660 when the 760;s are out? but what CPU do u have? dont want to over shoot ur CPU

660 would be a fair improvement but it might be worth saving for a 760

I'm ashamed to admit it - but I just havn't been keeping up with the latest GPU's lately....I was just going by the Mass amount of reviews the superclocked 660 had.

But now after seeing the 760 model, I see the advantage of pricepoint.

My CPU, I'm rockin the i5-2500 @ 3.7GHz. I'm confident that will still hold up to whatever I need it to. Also, my Mobo is an ASUS Maximus IV Formula GeneX.

HERE is an PNY 760 for $249. - Does that look good? There are like 3 or 4 different versions of the same card... I would go with EVGA just the same.

extra $10 for more factory OC, but those skeleton style ones look easier to clean instead of the enclosed one? i dunno.

Thx again for the advice. I'm breaking out the Credit card now. I'm not really a fan of Gigabyte, Prolly EVGA.. Thanks for the suggestion tho....And something probably Superclocked..
