GeForce 7800 GTX to a GeForce 9500 GT: How good of an upgrade?

I'm obviously not a major PC gamer, so I'm just trying to upgrade on the cheap. I found this 9500 GT for $49.99 and I noticed the specs are certainly better, but I don't have a real clue as to how much better it would actually perform. Here are my basic PC specs just in case: Intel (R) Pentium (R) D CPU @ 3.00 GHz, 2.0 GB of RAM, GeForce 7800 GTX, Direct X 9.0, Windows XP Professional. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!

It will probably outperform it. But if you're willing to spend around 100$ the 9800GT is about the best price/performance GPU out there, AFAIK. I'm not too big on those low/mid-range GPUs. I find stunted high end cards to be the best bet. Cards like the radeon9800pro, 8800GT, 7800/7900 series have lasted the longest.

The 9800gt is def. worth it, esp. at its low price. I recommend the 9 series bc you know nvidia stopes supporting products after a while, and the 9 series is newer than the 8. If you get a 9800gt, or even an 8800gt, I recommend you buy an Arctic cooling s1 Rev 2. cooler, it will get you a good overclock, extremely low load temps, and a good overall product.

Its a minimal upgrade.

A much better upgrade would be a HD4670.
