when i run the gpu-z utility i find that my gpu core clock is 220mhz(idle) and when playing games it is like 450mhz(default clock).is this normal.does the gpu underclock itself to save power.but why such things dont happen with the cpu(in the cpu-z utility).i see the cpu always hovers around the default clock

I have a intel i7 950 ( not over clocked ) I am trying to buy a graphic card. Nvidia GTX 285. its normal core clock is 648 but what i see online is oveer that ( like 690 or 710 ) is that ok? whats good about oc and what is bad about it ? or should i buy the non oc GTX 285?

Save money, get a 275 oc it and it'll be like getting a GTX285 for resolutions below 2560x1600
