I know a lot of you are all going to be jumping on board the SWTOR spaceship and make the hyperspace jump into the world of lightsabers and n00bs.

Some of you may already be playing and you may have seen higher level players zooming about on their speeder bikes/Segways.

I've seen a lot of people complaining about how expensive these things are and how they are sooo far off being able to buy one.

As I had 100k by level 25 and so didn't have this problem at all I thought I'd share my "secrets" (AKA 4 common sense tips) that I hope you can use to accumulate some mulah of your own and be able to get that mount ASAP when you hit level 25.

In short I have 4 tips for you:

1: Pick 3 gathering professions and gather every node you find

2: Sell all your materials on the GTN

3: Sell all your green items on the GTN

4: Don't buy *anything* on the GTN

There's a longer and more elaborate post on these 4 tips that you can find on my blog, in case you'd like a bit more info:

How is any of that useful? Not buying anything and selling everything and just gathering.. that would just mean you would have subpar equipment and because all gathering screw you in the long run.

Well:

1) As I mention in my article you'll have perfectly adequate gear from just quest rewards and the greens you find along the way. As long as you're leveling you should spend as little money as at all possible on gear, since you're going to be discarding it anyway within a few levels. This is espcially true at lower levels, where gear becomes obsolete in a matter of hours.

2) Picking 3 gathering skills does not scew you over in any way. You can always respec one of your gathering skills once you're max level and want to start focusing on crafting. That way you'll already have maxed out gathering skills to support your crafting and a big pile of money that you can buy low level materials with.

As an added benefit this also means that you'll avoid paying the high prices for rarer crafting materials that is always apparent in any new MMO

That sounds like a really boring way to play the game.

This. I never understood people who play MMOs just to level as fast as possible or be the first to get the most money etc etc. I play games for FUN, not as a speedrun to be the first.

That's all fine and well. I'm not saying this is how you should play the game.

I've just seen a lot of people **** about how they're always broke and can't get any money together and thought I'd share my experiences.

LOL, how the hell do they go broke? I'm spending a bit of money and whatnot, but I still managed to save 12,000 credits.

I agree with this as well. Half my gear is from the GTN, got some awesome heavy armor white jedi robes from there that is like 200% better than any armor I've found since (and I bought it like 5 levels ago lol)... pretty cheap too.

It's only 12,000 credits? I thought it would be an insane amount... I have like 10,000 already and I've been buying tons of stuff.

Level 15, around 12,000 credits. Is that low? I sell everything I don't need...I rarely buy anything except medi kits, and I repair my armour as it needs repairing. I never had too much money on MMOs but enough to get through. I'm intrigued on what u said about better gear on GTN then the ones u find. Where is this GTN? I'm trying to get good at Synthweaving, Archeology and Black Market Trading so I can create my own gear.

The way I see it there's no use in saving money in MMOs. Waiting for a good deal on some item on AH is one thing, but letting money just sit around is pointless. There's no interest in SWTOR for banking credits, so spend away. There are exceptions though like if a new patch or expansion is coming and adding expensive items you might want to save up to get them on the first day of release.

The one I used for Jedi was on Coruscant, it's close to where all the crew skill trainers are, and right next to the work benches there. From what I've seen so far (I'm only lvl 16) the best armor is either from the GTN or from Flashpoints, and commendations can also get you some pretty decent stuff (got a pretty nice lightsaber with my coruscant commendations, and also picked up armor for my companions).

This is how I tend to play all mmo's. Crafting is usually a money sink, this one is no different from what I can tell. I take gathering professions and sell what I gather to crafters, I fill my gear needs through questing and buy what I need with the money I earned gathering.

There is a reason why there are gathering professions, some people don't like to sit in a building and craft useless junk all day just to be able to someday make something useful. Gathering is as much a profession as crafts where you make something.
