So, I finally got a 1080p HDTV recently and I want to enjoy the most out of my PS3 games. I am planning on getting a HDMI cable... the only problem is, I don't know which one to get.

I am kind of leaning towards the one made by Sony that's specifically made for PS3, as I don't really trust 3rd parties. Which one would you guys recommend me ? I just want one that displays the best image (If there are differences in HDMI cables) and hopefully, not too expensive. Thanks for helping. :)

Know this and remember this, HDMI cables are all digital. So theres no such thing as "first party" or "third party" types of HDMI cables in truth. With that being said, it doesn't matter how expensive of a HDMI cable you get, you won't notice a difference from $5 one and an overpriced Monster rip-off $150 HDMI cable.

All you need is this: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024007&p_id=3871&seq=1&format=2

Amen to that. I bought a $120 monster HDMI cable when I first picked up the PS3 only to realize it was a few inches too short after reconfiguring my setup (Realized this after it was too late to return it :( . I then bought another for about $7 online and saw zero difference in visual quality. I did read an article (sorry no link) which tested Monster HDMIs against other, much less expensive third party companies' products which concluded that Monster was only worth the price if you required an unusually long length of cable (over 25 feet). Even then the difference was shown in abstract frequency tests and not in actual image quality.

Precisely what I was going to say. That and a wire is a wire. And Monoprice is the best place to go for them

Really? That's crazy, what can it possible claim it does over the cheaper cables to warrant a price like that.

Some BS about highly insulated wires and gold plated connectors.

Gold plated... ohh err. For $269 I'd expect it to turn the game I'm playing into the sequal for that money.

Their gimicky stuff like the others have said, Gold plated connections(yea... like when was the last time you see a corrosion happening on a cable connector?), gas injected wired, and blah blah blah... All of which does nothing unless you are wanting to use a 60ft cable. Even so, difference is so minimal that many wouldn't see it.

$269... I may as well get a Wii instead.

I know the old analog wires were gold plated for better connection but is that really needed with a digital signal surley you either get a picture or you dont isnt that how it works

About only thing I see makes use of gold-plated connectors would be RF, now those connectors do get corrosion if not placed well or is clogged up with dust over time(something which is very common back in the old days of TVs).

Now a days, even a 20 cents composite cable isn't all that vulnerable to corrosion, much less to say HDMI cables which are always having a fairly decent quality build.

I agree with the concensus. HDMI cables don't vary from one to another in quality. If the cable works, get it. I got mine for dead cheap on ebay imported from China.

go to monoprice.com and pick one. the $10 cables have exactly the same quality as the $70 sony or monster ones.
