Well, you can get one for near half the price from circuit city with more power. The one I'm getting is better and is only 639! Sorry Mozilla wont let me cut/paste, so I cant show you.

Personaly I think the GPU there is lame as well. Get a 8600GT/GTS or something for only 115 bucks. Dell realy does have retarded prices for those rigs.

I would definitely go for the graphics card upgrade (the intel graphics card isn;t really made for gaming).

FYI, its alot cheaper for you to build a computer then buy a prebuilt and its really easy. We can recommend parts and all you gotta do is put it all together or if you are really that insecure get a friend that knows how to and get him to help or just take the parts to some computer shop and pay them some $ to build it after you order the parts.

Omg PLEASE build your own... Don't buy that... The 8300 wont be able to run any new game at good resolutions, even if it has ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY EIGHT MEGS. :). Just tell us what is your budget and we will show you some good parts.

not to push you or anything but you should really build one its really easy most people in this forums have built one by the time they were like 13-15 and its real easy there's tutorials online that tell you what to do step by step and if you have any problems you can always just come back in here and ask a question because with that budget you can build a amazing desktop with a monitor that murders the consoles in performance

Here, I put his build together on Newegg for about $180 more than your current setup, but it's a lot better:
https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=6909068&WishListTitle=%7E%241300

I threw in MS Office 2007 because I saw that came with your Dell, but if you want, you can ditch that and get closer to your orignal budget. Or you could drop the E6420 processor down to a 6320, etc.. There are various ways you could shave off money, but if you can afford the extra spending, I'd suggest it.

As other people have said, there are tutorials online where you can read up on how to build yourself, and of course the people around here can always help. I haven't had the chance to build myself (though hopefully next time I will), but it's supposedly fairly easy with the right guide, as others have already said.

Even if you don't decide to build yourself, hopefully this will give a you a better idea of what you can get for your money. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Good luck, whatever you end up dong!

If you do end up building youself, people often recommend these Corsair guides:

Is the pc you made for me good for more than just gaming? Like surfing the internet and just normal stuff or is it strictly for gaming?

A powerful PC is a powerful PC. A computer that's good for gaming will also be good for day-to-day use because it's using the same hardware.

When you're gaming, your computer relies on your processor, RAM, and video card. When you're not gaming, your computer relies on your processor and RAM. See the overlap?

It's good for both gaming and day-to-day use. It's not top-of-the-line, but it's still a good computer, and much better than the Dell you had selected.

Oh, and in case you didn't already realize, all those parts would come seperate and you would have to build it yourself. I'm sure you already knew, but I thought I'd mention it because that would be a pretty big shock if you didn't.:P

Haha, like I said, I figured you did.

*EDIT*: Also, just an idea, but if you've got the money and don't mind spending a little more, you can up the processor to an E6600 which is only like $35-40 more than the E6420. Even if you don't, though, that computer will do really nicely for you.

If I was to buy a new PC I would not get a Core 2 Duo under 6300, let me just say that right now. Because the E4300 is significantly outperformed by the X2 5000+ which is as of now priced virtually the same.

Yeah, FireBurger's is pretty great although I think you could probably get rid of Office and go for the 8800GTS 640MB as it should do better at the higher resolutions there.
