Guys I am what you all might term a PC gaming noob. I have made posts in regards on how to make myself a better PC gamer in particular with the FPS genre and I appreciate all of your responses. My question this time is in preparing to play BF3, would you all say that BC2, BF2 or BFPLAY4FREE would be best to get me ramped up and give me the practice I need? Thanks again!!!

P.S. Im still getting owned at BC2, but once in a while, I can see positive results in my gameplay. M/KB is superior just as you all say, it is just a hard convertion from controler.

I'd say BF 2 because it's still the best out of all the BFs, but since we're talking about BF 3, a sequel to BC 2, BC 2 would be the better choice to get used to things.

Remember that Battlefield is not about your K/D ratio. You can just keep playing BC2, just focus on your support. Remember in games you're ranked on how many points you score, not kills.

Oh yeah I have realized this in BC2. I often times will simply run around as an assault and look for my Snipers and Engineers to give them ammo reloads. I also try to focus on getting the flags or Mcoms and if Im and engineer which is my second favorite class, I will lay down mines if we are defending. BC2 is such a great game and I hope that I can get up to speed in time to have an impact in BF3. Is it my understanding that in BF3, the Assault class is actually kind of taken on the role of the demo guy that the Engineer had in BC2. I heard that the classes in BF3 are Recon, Assault, Medic and Support. Is that correct? I might have that mixed up.

Almost. BF3 has Recon(still basically Recon), Assault(a combination of BC2's Assault and Medic. So, just imagine a medic with an assault rifle instead of an LMG), Support(whose job is to provide suppresive fire, supply ammo boxes and basically just keep everyone covered so they don't die), and Engineer(which is still the Engineer, just with a carbine instead of an SMG)

Get Bad Company2 and Vietnam expansion and play it till BF3 is out :D

Or if you dont mind old graphics get BF2!

Just remember that these games on PC are very teamwork oriented. if you are a medic go heal and revive people lots, if your an engiee give ammo,etc..

Good luck and maybe see you on the battlefield with BF3

BF3 is a sequel to BF2, hence the naming.

I'd say to play a more challenging game like CSS or Quake Live to perfect your gun skill so when BF3 comes along you only have to worry about tactics.

My guess would be to start controversy. That's just my opinion though. I've talked to people who played the leak and they say it feels like BF2, not Bad Company.

Frosbyte engine, the gameplay doesn't change just because some people want to believe it changes.

You're saying it's more like BC2, than BF2, because it's using a new engine? What the hell....

Multiplatform engine, multiplatform release, incapable Dice, BC 2 sequel. They won't just make a PC game because you like to believe they will, it's one thing to have higher res textures a few extra effects added and more players per server, it's another to make the game different than what the console crow expects. Go ahead tho, be naive, expect it to be BF 2 evolved.

But PS3=/=PC. I thought you wanted to improve your PC skills? The best game to ready yourself for BF3, would probably be BC2.

BC2 will prep you the best per BF3 improving directly on BC2's gameplay. If you are getting owned, don't be a hero. Unfortunately, your squad doesn't know wtf it is doing a huge part of the time.

A huge flaw in BF2 was

ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED!

ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED!

ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED!

ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED!

ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED!

ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED!

Anybody thats played it knows what I mean.

I don't see the point of practicing for a game. For me, success at multiplayer games is often the result of a ton of dumb luck. For example, while playing BC2 recently, I killed four people in a row with carefully placed shots from the Carl Gustav and then ran up and took the flag. All within a minute.

But then my teammates and I were driven back by a successful enemy counter-attack, and they ended up driving us back to our base. Then, they started baseraping us and I died five times in a row without making a single kill or scoring points. We were all at the mercy of the enemy Hind and the T90 which kept shelling us into oblivion.

Seriously? Come on man, it's just a game. I really don't think there's any way to really "train" to be good at BF3. Every game has its own gameplay mechanics, nuances, maps, and all that. THe best way to get good at BF3 is... to play BF3! It seems to me like you're really overthinking/overcomplicating this. Just do some major marathon sessions over the weekends playing overnight and you'll be a pro in no time.

Coolio, nice assumptions there, that game is no BF 2 sequel.
