So I have an hp pavilion dv9700

intel core 2 duo 2.2 ghz

4 gigs of ram

I already have windows 7 installed. I need OSX for my work because all we use is final cut pro and macs. It would be nice to take my work home without paying $2000 for a new computer. Anyway i've looked up putting osx on a pc and it seems real simple. Are there any dangers I should be aware of before I take on this challange?

I'd give it a shot, but may want to take an image of the PC incase it doesn't work.

Should be fine, at least worth testing. It just can't be guaranteed to be stable until you try it. It isn't like you will break anything, you will just have to reformat it if it doesn't work. Let us know how it goes :)

OKay I have osx running. Few problems. One. It wouldn't fully install until I unchecked the majority of the drivers. So I don't have sound, wifi or battery percentage. Any clue on how to get these?

Also. The tutorial I was going off of says in order to set up the dual boot I have to put in my Windows disk and do a recovery. Problem is I got my windows 7 off of an online iso when I bought it and totally forgot how to burn it correctly to a dvd. Any help?

Not sure what to do about the drivers. (that is what I was talking about in my previous posts, that those OSX-86 installs just have some drivers built into them). Not sure how you would go about adding new ones unless you feel like getting your hands dirty unix style. As for burning an ISO imgburn works great in Windows (and is free). In OSX I believe you can use DiskUtility to do it.

Thanks! Yeah I Used Disk Utility to burn a new windows disk and now i'm back on windows. I think i'll just keep trying to install OSX with certain drivers until it works. What I am really not looking forward to is putting Snow Leopard on it because i've seen the tutorials and it looks like a pain.

Now it won't install. Sigh,

Gamefreak1296

Good. Pirating software, let alone an OS is shameful.

For future reference, discussions on how to install Apple operating systems on non-Apple hardware are not permitted here on Gamespot, since it falls under the category of pirating software and violating user license agreements. Thread closed.
