So there is this old PC game i played long time ago titled Total Annihilation. IMO it had great music, and at the moment, the only way for me to play the music is to put the CD in a CD player, set the number to 2 or 3 (not sure which one), then play. But, i want to be able to get the music from the PC game CD and be able to play them on my computer, possibly in MP3 format. Is there a way to do this legally?

Check within the folders in the CD or the installed game folders

Yeah, if it's playable on a CD player the music must be on there somewhere

If the CD is playable like a Music CD, you can use something like Windows Media Player to rip the tracks. Many original PlayStation games are the same way. Basically Track 1 is 'data' so would be garbled, but track 2 - end would likely be regular CDA or WAV files.

It depends on the game. With that particular one, if you can put the game disc into a cd player and play the music, then it must be in a simple format in there somewhere. A lot of modern games have all the audio coded in some weird way, so the files can't be accessed, or played outside of the game. But some just have a folder full of mp3s, and you can do whatever you want with them. You could also just look for a download of the game soundtrack. Chances are, even if you find some torrent or something, it won't be any more illegal than ripping the tracks off the game disc. Don't worry about it.

If you're not lazy you could directly download the songs from Youtube through Jdownloader.

It's a redbook CD audio soundtrack, meaning it works just like a CD album. You can rip it using Exact Audio Copy or whatever music-ripping software you prefer. As for other games where the music isn't stored on a CD like that, the best you can hope for is to look through the directories and see if you can find the music files. I wouldn't worry about legality; falls under fair use if you ask me.

You can use any game audio ripping tool, which rips the music playing in the windows.. These ripping tools are those which rips the currently playing music from windows audio codec. You can try this: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
