GFWL Market Place to close

It looks like M$ have finally abandoned PC gaming which doesnt seem surprising since GFWL has been on life support for the last few years.

GFWL client will still work for existing titles. I wonder if M$ have a rebranding idea to go with the Xbone or if they have really thrown in the towel.

Only thing I ever bought was Age of Empires III when it went on that 80MSP sale years ago. Good riddance.

Didn't buy much off there, but when I bought Arkham City DLC, it gave me codes for GFWL. So if I reinstall in the future, how will that work with GFWL? I see they aren't selling anymore, but I'd think this would be one step closer to the whole thing going down - which means I lose access to the DLC I believe, right?

This doesn't mean they've abandoned PC gaming. They abandoned a piece of shit digital distribution that most people hated. Good on them and good riddance to GFWL.

Hope it doesn't close down completely.  I like being able to private chat with my Xbox friends from my PC. 

And it's too bad they never added party chat...but I guess MS was never actually interested in improving the service and the stigma around it....

i once bought Alan Wake for $0,10. added it to Steam, never even installed.

I hope that Batman AA & AC are updated soon (Been getting updated since March)

I also heard Bioshock 2 and Minerva's Den DLC are getting a Steam release... and I always wanted to play Minerva's Den, but GFWL purchases don't work in my country.

I loved getting point on my xbox account but never having any deal at all made gfwl the least attractive option for all.  It had a lot of potential imo

When it comes to copying from and trying to compete with other software, MS always struggles with the notion of "value added".  They tend to do the opposite.

I never got what that store was doing. They had amazing sales when they relaunched it or whatever. Bioshock for $2, Deus Ex for $1, AoE 3 complete for 10 cents, and there were others. After that they didn't have a single worthwhile sale.
