16 ms response time.

Too slow for gaming? How much noticeable ghosting will I encounter?

The monitor in question is the Dell 2007WFP 20".

Why are you making a new thread about it?

It's fine, Dell's monitors are very good quality.

High ms response does not mean ghosting. It's all about the quality of the monitor.

Oh, and the majority of modern LCDs no longer have the problem of ghosting.

I've since read some contradictory comments by other gamers about this monitor, and wanted further clarification.

Do you really think I am going to lie to you?
I don't post false information, since I don't post a response/answers unless I know them before hand...

You'll have to excuse my need to hear more than one person say the same thing. It's been my observation that people here seem to be very ambiguous with their responses sometimes.

Again, sorry if this thread came across as me not taking you seriously.

Well bro, I've seen monitors with a 5ms response time ghost far worse than one with a 16ms response time.

Also, 16 ms response time is still very good considering we had like monitors with 25ms+ response times a few years back..

Just because there's new monitors with crappy TN panels (poor colors, poor viewing angles, image quality low) with extremely low ms response times like 2ms or 5ms doesn't mean they don't ghost.

Monitors with a TN panel are however, considered a "gamer's" monitor since generally gamers don't give a **** about image quality or that other stuff but ghosting is generally very low on them.

No problem, I am just trying to get across the fact that I giving you facts.
A lot of research has gone into the building of my PC, the best parts for the least amount of money that I can budget, I am just sharing the facts I have found with others.

8ms is standard, youll want soemthing at least 8 ms or lower. ive done my stuff too, for building my pc...

also, check whether its DVI or VGA, those are the types of connectors. VGA is analog and it is how the gfx card is transmitted to the monitor, DVi is a digital connection and is better for better and gets a better signal. response time DOES affect ghosting, but with modern monitors, hardlyanymore... you want to get a DVI if your a hard out gamer but VGA should suit tha majority.

you want to make sure that the panel is either PVA or ISA, unless like whats his name said, you dont care aobut image quailty which in that case get yourself a TN film. i dont recommend it with its crappy viewing angles but, whatever.

also, make sure you get a good contrast ratio. more than 600:1 if you can, 800:1 is fine for hardout gamers... otherwise your blacks with mix with the dark greys and everything will be all crap... brightness of about 300 +

but id go with viewsonic purely cos they make good monitors, either that or hanns.g which are better.

but thats personal prefernece

You might want to do some more research.

I have a contrast ratio of 700:1, it's perfect for me/other people that come over and use my computer.
