I'll second AVG, I use that. avast! is also pretty good, used that for while. Don't know about paid though, I only used the free version of both of those.

Depends if you want something free or are willing to pay.

Free ones are AVG, Avira or Avast (notice they all start with the letter A :))

I currently use AVG (the paid version) and it's alrite. Norton and McAfee are both memory consuming.

If you have/want an anti-virus make sure you also have a good anti-spyware aswell.

I'm using Norton Internet Security 2007 on Vista. I've heard a lot of bad things about it from XP users (and infact the old 2006 was rubbish on my old XP machine too) but I have to say I really am very impressed with it; I think it's been optimsed for Vista, it works like a charm.

If your using XP I'd go with AVG; I never had any bother with them

Yep, one of the best next to panda software's...

Ive found norton causes more problems and lets more virus's through then any other. AVG out performs norton everytime, thats saying something. Not to mention if you want to remove norton is more trouble then worth usually..You never wondered why others made a norton removal tool?

i use NOD32Whiteknight19

Nod32 is really good and doesn't use much system resources but it isn't free. Norton is the worst since it's such a resouce hog and slows down the PC. Maybe they got better.

Anyone used Karspersky? I'm trying to find a really good anti-virus too and open to suggestions :). I need one that is a rescource hog and so will probably avoid MacAfee and Norton. Oh yeah, it doesn't have to be free.

Right now, AVG,Kaspersky, and Avast are all catching my eye.

Kaspersky tends to hog resources too, I dont know if they fixed it but when I was testing various ones, while kaspersky is good, it chewed a few resources now n then.
