im looking at the geforce 8600 512 mb version, or the 8800 512 mb, is it a good choice? i dont really want to spend more than 250 dollars, in that ball park.

what is the longevity of this card? will it be out of date in a few months? what should i wait for?

thanks yall

Im kinda confused. You say your budgets $250 but you comparing a $60 card and a $130-$150 card. Also whats your powersupply and what resolution do you play at ?

I would recommend this card since it pwns those you have listed. But as mastershake575 said what is your power supply and why are you comparing cards that are worth less then half your targeted price range?

With 380w, you are going to most likely need a new powersupply unless its like an earthwatts 380w. I recommend you get the 8800GT on tigerdirect for $150($130 after rebates) and then get a new powesupply. Also what are the rest of your specs and what resolution do you play at ?

For that resolution, a 8800GT is going to last a very long time. Before I can help you, you have to tell me if your positive that you have a pci xpress slot and the rest of your specs (processor/ram)

Then get the earthwatts 430w which is cheap after rebates http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371006http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3538922&CatId=3670 The total after rebates should be like $165
