My specs are:

Left 4 Dead 2 is the best co-op game you can play. It requires proper teamwork and planning. It also just happens to be a great game. Endlessly replayable and some of the best combat in any game. Portal 2 is second. Fantastic co-op interaction but obviously its not as replayable. Stay away from BF3's co-op. It was actually broken the last time I tried it.

Diablo 3 in 10 days 6 hours and 40 minutes, forgot another great one, Dungeon Defenders and you're in luck, check indieroyale.com, however, it does have a lot of DLC that you can get for cheap on a sale, but that might discourage you (guys).

I recommend all the games recommended by the posters above me and the following:

Serious Sam 1, 2 and 3

SWAT 4 plus the expansionSWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate (gem)

Magicka

Diablo 3 (May 15th) and Torchlight 2 (anticipated in a couple of months)

You should've had no problem with Diablo 3, maybe it was a beta thing, but if you did have problems, check a demo for Magicka, great game, but it's pretty broken, it might run fine, acceptable or terrible (happens even on extremely powerful computers).

Diablo 3 shouldn't be a problem on your system.

Mass Effect 3, Dead Island, HL2 has a coop mod, Jamestown has local coop, Portal 2, Saints Row 3, Sanctum, Trine 2, and Dawn of War 2 series.

I found Red Faction 4: Armageddon's COOP to be the most enjoyable out of what I've come across and I've put over 70 hours into it compared to say my less than 20 combined on KF/L4D2, heck I even played MWF3's Spec Ops mode more than KF/L4D2 and Black Ops 1 zombies combined, I think the issue with these games(KF/BO1/L4D2) is that to a non casual gamer it just ends up as a big flesh train more/less whereas this isn't the case for MWF3 Spec Ops or RF4 (you can ignore the playtime stuff since argument from playtime is obviously not very useful for this discussion). Beyond survival games there's Dungeon Defenders which like a mix of RTS, RPG, and Action, it's a must play for COOP gamers and I highly recommend Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, not the prettiest game, the AI isn't much better than L4D2, but the mix of the scale of combat and cheesy B grade movie style battles that makes for an appropriate COOP experience. I recommend checking out Cooptimus as they look only at COOP games and judge them based on the COOP experience alone.
