It will run Media Player at reasonable resolutions but that Hard Drive is pretty small if you want to put lots of movies and TV Shows....

The one problem I see is noise. A HTPC needs to be mostly fanless, or minimum noise imo.

dont bother me, i watch movies and videos, on my normal PC and i have a total, if you count the GPU ( 1 fan on it), 2 CPU heatsink fans, and the PSU fan ( 1 fan on it) a total of 9 fans all together. i have 5 case fans. so yeah a fan or 2 wont bother me. :)

They don't bother you cause you've never had a fully silent case. Once you go silent, you wonder how you put up with the noise.

Size depends entirely on your setup. As in where the case will go, if it's visible or hidden, etc.

For 600 bucks I'd just build something proper looking.
