I'm looking at purchasing this pre-built setup

- Intel Dual Core E2220 (2.4GHz, 800MHz FSB)

- 2GB DDR2 667MHzRAM

- ASUS 8500GT 512MB SILENT MAGIC Graphics Card

DVI/HDTV-Out/Dual VGA/HDCP/DX10/OpenGL 2.0

- ASUS P5GC-MX Motherboard 45nm

- Microsoft Windows XP Pro installed

now i know this isnt an awesome spec PC for gaming.. but i have a small-ish budget and i would just like to know:

1) Would this be able to play something such as World of Warcraft on decent video specs without too much trouble

2) Would this be capeable of playing most games on medium/low video specs.

Thanks in advance.

Listen, I have a Dell laptop, it's awesome for games, but ever since I got vista, it's not that good. It game always has errors with vista, it's hard to find out how to get certain files and then if you can do that, you have to find them. If you want to game, I recommend Windows XP if you have a PC

Yeah.

I have mates who have complained about similar problems with Vista.

Hence why the setup has Windows XP Pro pre-installed.

Anyone else got any thoughts?

If that's a brand name PC such as Dell/HP don't buy it. I wouldn't recommend buying any brand name PC with a intel core 2 duo. Because you can't overclock it which means your just throwing money down the drain. If you want to get a brand name PC go for athlon 64 x2 instead.

Athlon 64 x2 is cheaper. And they don't generally overclock that well anyway. So you would get more performance for your cost by running a Athlon 64 x2 at stock instead of a core 2 duo.

yes intel E4xxx series any and 6xxx 7xxx serie. 8xxx serie surpass any Athlon X2 Series by 20-30 to maximum 90fps with oc then any amd cpu
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/wolfdale-shrinks-transistors,1773-5.html

and btw the guy who said dell laptop work good you have intel graphic chipset or ? intel 3100 xpress or being enough wise to put 100-200$ for a Video card ?

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2427&p=6
2003 GPU for 100$-200$ Laptop that was around. 2003 for game like unreal touramrent 2004 vs

6200GT and it perform already 10x less then any new serie 8 Video card 8200-8400-8500-8600-8700-8800

note the 8700 is only a mobile verison as far i know off for laptop
talking about laptop those video card perform any better then Serie 6 but id recommend a 8400gS or stronger

build your own system, if thats a laptop, reconsidor if you REALLY need a laptop, I have a nice laptop via college that forces me to rent it out for $500 a semester. But a desktop is so much better, my desktop costs as much as renting my laptop for 1 damn semester. it pisses me off. Plus my desktop kills it in everyway. But i need it. if you don't dont get one they seem good in theory but they fail

agree on that but if he want a mobile that much at last i told him to be wise and go intel core duo & video card inside
i don't have the benchmark of 3450 vs 8400gs or 8800GT but i think it do awsome
for mobile tough but i don't mind buy a laptop my self before laptop can change gpu and cpu inside.
like a desktop we are in a high techonlgoy era right now we could do it but for business sake it not do-able yet

it will run any game, but wont run it well, if you have a small buget build one yourself and you could get a much better system for less

It game always has errors with vista, it's hard to find out how to get certain files and then if you can do that, you have to find them. If you want to game, I recommend Windows XP if you have a PChistorickiller

vista is fine for gaming, my laptop and desktop haven't have any issues in over 6 months of gaming
