Good free PC games to download

Hey i just got a new computer, and to try it out i was wondering if there were any free pc games to download that i would enjoy. i like fps, action and sports games. rpg's are good too.

The quality of free games isnt all that great imo.

Go out and buy a few games that are cheap or on sale :P

Team Fortress2, Counterstrike Source, Crysis, The Witcher, Diablo2, Total War series, Company Of heroes, Left4Dead, Simcity4, Age Of Empires3 and Stalker are all worth checking out.

Full Spectrum Warrior is the best free game I can think of.

Yep, shop around and you can get some real cool semi-older games cheap.

Trackmania Nations Forever like some else said is fun also Combat Arms is not bad. (both free)

I'll have to toss in the usual recommendation of Good Old Games. They have a few free point and click adventures but most games are between $6 and $10 so they won't break the bank.

Why not download some demos of newer games?

Demos: helping gamers save money since 1993 :)

Enemy Terriotory and FEAR Combat.

Neotokyo is one of the best free games I've played. (you need a game with Source such as CSS, HL2, TF2, L4D, ect)

You can download GameTap for free. I am pretty sure GameTap has a couple free games you can play.

Blacklight: Retribution, but only if you are willing to spend a lot of time to unlock all the cool stuff. I hear Tribes Ascend is good, too, but I didn't try it out myself.

Planetside 2, Mechwarrior online, Hawken, Team Fortress 2, DOTA 2 are good places to start with F2P games
