Do you have game titles which are very good in sense of gameplay, graphics etc. but u u dont enjoy playing it because of universe, characters and created world ?

Im not enjoying any games that universe is related with popular comics. I played Batman Arkham Asylum which has very solid gameplay and smooth graphics but still I feel empty playing as a guy dress up as a bat who saves people. I just cant enjoy it despite of grtaphics, gameplay. Im not a fan of comic books. In my opinion all this super heroes are for kids(its just my opinion btw)

Next Game is League Of Legends. I love playing it. Its fun, competetive, multiplayer, dynamic action, cooperative with friends and with lot of action between human players. Still... I feel like Im in middle of pokemon war. Despite that every champion is a copy paste of someone from mythology, movie, other game, poculture etc. So we have Sparta guy with spear fighting against ninja who is supported by werewolve. This sparta guy just want to ambush this 2 champions forcing them to chase near bushes. In bushes we have waiting a yeti champion to kill this 2 enemies. Thats just WRONG. No originality and everything looks like pokemon with this childish graphics. ;/

Sounds like a dumb reason not to enjoy an amazing product, especially if I can enlighten myself and end up enjoying the universe as well.

This. Also TC, everything is somewhat copied/used from something else. It's nearly impossible to create something totally new these days. What games DO you like, cause most of them have characters and universes with super-realistic stuff, like comics etc.

Well he's right, Bioshock isn't a good game- Its a GREAT GAME!

Multiple game of the year winning, 2007 topping, amazing title all around Bioshock. A game that good cannot be classified as good. Then again, neither can Batman, that game is a work of art.

Bioshock is boring. The beginning is epic, then it nose dives into an overly glossy, repetitive, corridor after corridor (maybe open world, but mainly comprised of corridors :P).

The levels are corridor after corridor, it's the combination of skills and the settings which makes it shine. EVERY game is repetitive.

Far Cry 2 is a game for the REAL gamer. No longer must you be led to your objective and be given your weapons, you have to seek and maintain all your gear while driving to your objective for miles after recieving the mission, LIKE A MAN!!! Your guns now turn on you, because its REALISTIC, and no longer must a hardcore gamer wait for a challenge since bullet sponge enemies now instantly respawn and can shoot through walls!

But seriously, I actually did love Far Cry 2, I thought the repetition was horrible but the immersion was great. It does show that a corridor shooter like Bioshock can be much more open and varied then an open world Africa environment, and honestly can you really complain that an underwater city pits you indoors too much? Really? Its like complaining about no screen doors on your submarine.

You have issues TC, any person so insecure about their "maturity" trying so hard to avoid certain games, definitely has issues. I don't avoid good games because of the universe, I only avoid mediocre games, what I don't do with games from an universe I don't like or games with themes that I don't really like is to not play them much (like Skyrim and many others) I sometimes even give up on universes I love because I don't really like the new approach.

Hey i apologise in advance for carrying on, but i have to agree about Bioshock. Everyone kept going on about how amazing this game was and how you had to play it or you were missing out on the next big thing... so i fell head first into the hype and purchased the game with high expectations.

The game started off very nicely and seemed quite interesting with a deep story behind it which i liked. But after playing it for a few days it began to feel repetitive and it felt like you were doing the same thing over and over again so it just became dull for me. The story wasn't as interesting as i first thought sure it had twists in it but it wasn't anything too special, and in the end it felt like a chore to continue to play. I tried really hard to enjoy the game but it just wouldn't happen.

It's a shame too, i wish i could have enjoyed this game but i guess it wasn't for me. I have Bioshock 2 installed on my computer too but i haven't even touched that yet. Maybe i should try the second one and see if it makes up for the first.

I can't play GTA games.

The thought of playing as a loser, who can't get a real job, tearing up the city he lives in, while mindlessly hurting the people that actually keep the place going . . . makes me nauseous.

I don't play Sins of a Solar Empire or Eve because I don't generally like space syfy. I might play the odd Star Wars game, or something scary like Dead Space, and I liked Homeworld back in the day but that's about it.

Of course.

If I don't like the game world, I'm not playing it, no matter how good the product actually is.

I have to be in the mood for that particular genre.

hmmmm.... childish anime-JRPG-style is propably the only thing that's able to make me refuse to play a game, even if the gameplay itself is good.

I agree on the comics thing, as it's usually not my thing, although I'm starting to get used to the idea of watching or playing material based on them. The Walking Dead must be one of my favorite TV shows, and the latest Batman games are very good as well.

But usually, no, I don't let the franchise a game is based on deprive me of the enjoyment it may provide me. For example, I can't stand Star Trek yet the two Elite Force games are among the best shooters I've ever played.

How could a game be GOOD to me, if I don't appreciate its universe? For me, they go hand and hand. Yes, while it may be deemed good, great, excellent by others, but if the universe isn't appealing to me I wouldn't play it. So how would I know? Is this a trick question?! :P

Manhunt showed me the meaning of love, and that the quickest way to someone's heart, is through their chest cavity with a rusty metal shard.

And they say games can't teach you anything.

The problem is that there aren't many game developers try to be creative but that means they throw a bunch of unrelated crap against the way and see what sticks. I'd rather play a game that has a well done but overused setting than something original but doesn't work or make sense.

In a different sense I do find lol-worthy how they try to paint (at least in more recent entries) GTA protags as being morally complex characters that are reduced to a life of crime even though they came to Amurica with pure intentions.

Sorry, but what did you expect ? Final Fantasy ? It´s a shooter after all. It´s the best atmospheric shooter you can get nowdays. If you think it´s repetitive then you would have hated Doom2/3, Duke Nukem, Half Life 1, Quake and... . I mean complaining that a shooter is repetitive is like complaining that Diablo is too grindy. This is the purpose of the genre, to offer a lot of hours of shooting stuff. This is why Call of Duty and all recent shooters are critisized so much for their 5-hours campaings. Bioshock instead doesn´t only offer you a 12-hour length campaing but it provides one the best environments and stories in the gaming history. You can get burnt on anything when you play it for a lot of hours. This is why I play shooters when I actually want to shoot something, not for the sake of completing a game. I finished Bioshock after many weekends dedicating it some 2-3 hours combining it with other games play sessions. The genius of Bioshock is that among other things it excels in shooting and killing mechanics. The problem of COD single player and other modern shooters, as I see it, is they stopped to be just shooters, they try to incorporate too many thing dilluting shooting gameplay with cutscenes, time and scipted events, instead of excelling in shooting mechanics, but in the end they doesn´t excell in anything.

It's you guys who seem insecure. Not enjoying a game because the world/characters/ect interest you is perfectly legit. It's one, among many, different things that can either appeal or ruin game experiences for folks. Some people like dark gritty violence, some don't. Some like anime and crap like that, others can't stand that art style. Some like shooters, others can't stand them and would rather play something else.

There's a hundreds of things from genre, style, art, and anything in between that will either be preferable or ruin a game completely for folks...who are any of you to say it's wrong for someone to have their own preferences?

Did you even read the first post? opinions aside, that is how an insecure person would write. Forget about reading, you didn't even comprehend what you were trying to discuss, you completely missed any trace of logic, here's the short version of your post "hurr durr, you people are insecure, hurr durr, people like different things, hurr durr, who are you to say what opinion is wrong". Sorry, but I find it idiotic to jump from an insecure point of view about games to discussing about "opinion" and I'm being kind with calling it idiotic.

I did, and my point stands. He thinks comic book characters are kiddy so what? You don't, so good for you. Most of you probably think Barney is kiddy too and don't watch the show, other adults might still enjoy it. Nice thing about this world is we are all allowed to enjoy (and not enjoy) what we want based on whatever we want.

Stop being insecure about someone thinking something you enjoy is kiddie.

Guys I suspected that some of You will point out my subjective opinion about comic books. I didnt want to insult anyone about this. I have 30 year old friend who has wife, good job and plan to make a kid :) Still when we hang out he shows me trailers of new spiderman, transformers, hulk movies and he loves that. So its not that everyone who likes comics are kids. Its all about me. Somehow I like to emphatize with characters in some point. Unfortunately comics looks for me like total abstraction and I cant really enjoy it. I like it when I was a kid but now I lost all the interest. Universe and created world have big impact on games. Its not about someone being insecure etc. I have friend who hate fantasy games/movies, other one hate sci-fi games/movies like star-trek, mass effect(even if the game looks fun, he loses the interest because of the scifi world). Other friend dont enjoy modern military games like Call of DUty or Company of heroes. Instead he loves to play league of legends. All of them is 23-30 years old :)

Starcraft... I love RTSs, but never had much interest in Starcraft... Or Warcraft outside of WoW, I like WoW, but not really because of the lore.

who doesn't love their first-person shooters with the bland monotony of a subpar MMO.

Your posts are made of 90% troll; that didn't even make a lick of sense -- and I think Bioshock was average at best.

Have you not considered the actual objectve in Far Cry 2? You for the most part perform trivial, non-narrative driven tasks in an open-ended environment in return for reward (i.e. diamonds), which is put to use in weapon & weapon modification. You in return perform even more trivial (in a narrative sense) tasks of greater difficulty, but with elevated efficiency. The drive is in the weapons loudout and its incremental progression, not in the forgettable objectives or bland gunplay. I don't think it's a stretch to call it structurally reminscent to MMOs.

The lore of Warcraft 3 is of another league. What lore that existed of the Warcraft series was forever tarnished by WoW.
