COD 1+2 (not sure if you can play the 4th game).
Half-Life 2 (Vanilla).
yah ok ill try the thief games. i might invest in a 8800 gt but im not to sure yetag3ntz3rox0x
Excellent: Start with Thief: Gold. Thats the first game (the dark project) but with three extra missions.
The Orange box, only 1.7ghz processor, speed and .5mb ram min req, thatll keep you occupied for a well long time, also counter strike, and the battlefield series
Dawn of War + expansions. They're excellent, very current (unlike the old-timers listed in the posts above), and the graphics look pretty OK yet not demanding.F1_2004
im in love with rts games,. but i downloaded the demo of the dawn of war and i couldnt run it on high. will it nullify my experiance do you think?

Episode 2 is a lot more demanding than vanilla HL2 and EP1 - particularly the forest stage.

But Portal isn't that demanding, and it's one of those games that I'd reccomend to anyone. Short, but sweet. And hilarious.

good RTS games with low requirements include age of mythology, age of empires II, warcraft III, and rise of nations (maybe the highest req's of the four). other great non-RTS games include the no one lives forever series, KotoR, half-life (the original), deus ex, and mafia.

If you get these games, they will keep you occupied for a long time.
FPS
Doom collector's edition
Quake 2
Quake 3 (if you like deathmatch with bots)
Aliens vs Predator
System Shock 2
Half Life
No One Lives Forever 1 + 2
Deus Ex
Rogue Spear
RTS
Dawn of War
StarCraft
Age of Empires 2
Medieval Total War
Command and Conquer The First Decade (C&C Generals won't run so well, but that's no great loss)
RPG
Fallout 1 + 2
Baldur's Gate 1 + 2
Planescape Torment
Adventure
Broken Sword 1 + 2
Myst
Riven
Grim Fandango
Everything with Monkey Island in the title
Sam and Max Hit the Road
Sam and Max Season 1 (might not run, but I think it should)
The rest
Sim City 2000
Alpha Centauri
Grand Theft Auto 1,2, 3 and Vice City
Worms Armageddon (if you have a friend to play with)
Max Payne
Only Vice City, Dawn of War and Sam and Max season 1 are more recent than 2003, so you should be able to run just about everything here quite comfortably - and many of these games are amongst the greatest games of all time.
Im really surprised nobody mentioned Starcraft. Although its really old its still a blast to play, just go ask the koreans. Warcraft would be nice as theres so much custom maps you can play like dota and footmen. Theres also:
Call of Duty 1-3
Maybe halo
Fear 1
Half Life 2-ep 1
Counterstrike Source or 1.6
The sims even though i dont like it
Age of Empires 1-2 maybe 3 if you're lucky
elder scrolls 2
serious sam: the second encounter
painkiller
warcraft 2: battle.net/non B-net edition
starcraft

age of empires 3
C&C: generals

marathon
shogo: M.A.D.
lord of the realms 3
kotor 1 & 2
the path
doom 3
you might be able to run:
mercenaries 2
f.e.a.r.
your actually not in that bad of a spot its your cpu thats the issue
for mercs 2 you need a 2.2Ghz cpu or better so you could do it with a little slowdown
and f.e.a.r. is 2.3 i believe
i forgot a few:
diablo 2
mercenaries 1
medival 2: total war
empire earth 3
gta3
need for speed: hot pursuit 1 & 2
need for speed: most wanted
alien shooter: vengance

Civlization 1-3
my pc sucks for gaming but i still play games like rome total war on high. can anyone recomend any games that arnt demanding on there requirements?ag3ntz3rox0xFirst Starcraft, and the Warcraft games. Heroes of Might and Magic as well. Oh, and Torchlight has low requirements as well.
RTS: definitely Rise of Nations. Age of Empires II or III is also nice, I even liked those better than Age of Mythology.
TBS: Alpha Centauri; Galactic Civilizations II if you're into that kind of game (i.e. the setting is in space); Armageddon Empires for something quite different
FPS: Unreal Tournament, perhaps UT 2004 if you meet the system requirements
If you're in doubt, Gamespot and/or the developer's site typically list the minimum requirements. I use this all the time, seeing that I play on a laptop with integrated video card :p
