Hello everyone. I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 555 I use for listening to music and whatnot, and I have an add-on mic, but I want a gaming headset for this game and Battlefield. I am not really going to listen to music on it, just game. I was looking for a pair under $100 and I will be using Amazon since I have a $40 credit there. I know everyone uses TurtleBeach, and I read the FAQ, but any ideas other than those? Thank you.

What's wrong with what you have?

I doubt any headset will sound better than HD555.

I can't sem to get the attached Zalman Zm-Mic1 to work properly. Sometimes it doesn't even pick up my voice. I figured an all-in-one headset would be better?

Then something is wrong with either your mic or your settings. A separate setup will give you better quality.

this thread again? *sigh*

I assume you have a decent soundcard in your pc, yes? In that case, it might be a software or hardware issue with the mic, in the worst case my first stop would to first to see the software, then return it for another one, to make sure it is not a hardware fault.

Unlike most my love for Sennheiser is not like a golden rule (infact outside of the top models they produce I find the dropoff in sound quality too drastic to consider them above average. That said, for the HD555 you would at best hear little to no difference from higer end headsets but their pricepoint would be too high to justify a swap. (basicly you would pay ALOT for the same area of sound). And if you use them outside of Gaming I would stick with the HD 555 without a doubt. The HD 555 is not ideal for music, but they are a good deal better then alot of the headsets that exists. (mind you this is without the whole discussion of the PC soundcards you draw sound from).

I should first and foremost focus on the mic, likely cheapest to fix.

If your complaint is with the Zalman mic, then just get a different mic. The ModMic would be the obvious choice, if they still have some in stock.

I have the same headphones and mic. Both work flawlessly. Maybe grab a new Zalman mic?

http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-GameCom-780-Surround-Headset/dp/B00B1KJK22/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1369847719&sr=8-8&keywords=plantronic+headset

I picked up this headset not too long ago and still like it. Sound is good and the mic works well.
