Is this a good HTIB for my new Panasonic Plasma 46" ST30? Onkyo HT-S5400 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver/Speaker Package I can't go over $400 and Amazon has it for around $380, everything I've read about it seems to be good.

It is $334.50 with regular shipping from that site, and that is for a refurb. It's only $43 more for a brand new one from Amazon after shipping. I've never been a fan of buying used things so that's not too bad of a deal for me. I know I could go with an extended warranty, which aren't bad at those prices imo, but that would make it cost more than the new one fro Amazon.

This is an instand where I'd actually recommend at least checking out what is available in-store. Yes, there is tax, but you'd be surprised at what you can find on clearance at stores like ABT--where I'd recommend going if there is one in your area.

Bought my receiver from there. Absolutely nothing wrong with it and it still has a 2 year warranty.

the only stores in my area with HTIB are BestBUY, HHGregg, Sears, Walmart, none of which have a comparable set for the same price. I just got the 1 I mentioned, I know its new and everything I've read is good so I'm sure I'll be happy with it. And now I know I'll soon have an extremely nice setup for once, at least for my standards.

Congrats. Onkyo is the only way to go for HTiB systems. They sound decent enough. At least you can upgrade the speakers too.

That's a good deal at that price. Onkyo is the right choice for HTIB.
