I know their lesser wattaged models are modular, but I really wish their 750W model was modular!

They do have a 1000w modular.

What all do you plan on running. The HX620 is one powerful 620w PSU. It can put out 600w on the 12v rails.

What are you thinking on powering in your PC?

The HX620W is enough for any single card gaming rig out there and can easily handle SLI mid-high end cards like 8800GT.

Well, it's for a friend who wants to run Crossfire in the future and he's looking for something a little cheaper than Corsair's 1000W modular PSU.

I dont find modular cabling a huge advantage if you have a full tower which I assume he would be getting since he is planning crossfire.

Corsair HX520 and HX620.matrixian

I have the 620 and it's sweet. 1 niggle is the extra supplementary power cord that comes har-wired into it, but they provided a tie to tie it out of the way. No problem, even with a midi tower.

I think the corsair HX620W should be fine for any normal crossfire setup. it has 50a on the +12v rails. Thats more than you will find on some 750 w psu's. Unless he want's to do hd4870x2 crossfire, I think it'll be fine.

And if it's 2 4870s? That I doubt.

He can get 2 4870, but not Corsair HX1000W?

Actually yes it will. Unless you have a ridiculous amount of HD's and water cooling, and tons of fans.

Here is a thread at Corsair just about this. It has the power just not the connectors, but as said by RAM Guy in the thread, juat send them an email and they will send you 2 cables with 1 6-pin and 1 6+2 pin. I contacted them and within 2 weeks had the cables, and did not even have to pay shipping.
