I use a Steelseries Icemat 2. Its a glass mousepad. I prefer it to cloth, plastic, or metal ones due to its durability and smoothness.

Some surfaces make optical mice spaz out and makes them unusable without a mouse mat.

I got a Ratpadz XT as a gift, and I must say I like way more than I thought I would have. It took a while to get used to cause the mouse slides around so easily.

I used to do that too. But then my mouse started to wear out the varnish on my table.

I have one with a gel wrist rest thing on it. It's so worn that I can't read the logo.

Get a laser mouse and you won't ever have to worry about mouse pads again. Buy yourself some wrist protection at the same time, depending on the surface.

Yeah, I have a laser mouse (G5) but it glides nicer on a mousepad anyway.

I've got a laser and a mat does make a difference. For laser mice you need a hard mat or thin soft mat.

The problem is all super large pads like that are soft pads which arn't ideal for laser mice.

some mousepads in the country I'm currently in are having bad smell. Better go to a store and choose one.
