Good Multiplayer shooter

Im looking to buy a game, from steam if possible, a good ole pc shooter that might bring me back to the battlefield 2 days. Any suggestions guys? any good pc online shooters would be helpful

BF:BC2 is the best Multiplayer Shooter out there. No question asked.

Team Fortress 2. Its only $10 and its probably the best MP shooter this gen

Counter Strike 1.6 if you enjoy games that take actual skill. Else you might just want to wait for BF3, or give Bad Company a chance.

Whats great and new at the moment is BF:BC2 although if you dont mind old school cs 1.6 or source.

Depends on what you're looking for.

If you mainly want to run around and shoot people, go with Black Ops or TF2. Tons of servers, and pretty good communities as well.

If you're more interested in the teamwork aspect, go with CS:S (join a clan), Day of Defeat or Red Orchestra.

I would recommend Bad Company 2, since it is a great game at its core, but it's horribly broken to the point of being nearly unplayable. The hit registration is among the worst I've ever seen (YouTube it for a laugh), there are frequent disconnects, joining a game with a friend seldom actually puts you on the same team, stats and awards often don't get updated, and there are hackers aplenty to boot. Like I said, it's a great game at its core, but I just don't think anybody should spend money on a broken product.
