So I have set upi my new computer, monitor and xbox. I have my 360 plugged into the Samsung T260HD monitor and as is the computer. I have the 30 running through HDMI and yet the only sound I get is out of the basic monitor speakers. Playing RockBand and games of that manner is terrible. So I used the audio port thing that I have where it has the red and white outputs and an optical output.

I placed a converter on the red and white cbales to a 3.5mm headphone jack and ran it through the mic of the computer to get the sound out of the speakers. The sound is louder yes but the quality feels very poor and there is quite a bit of unwanted feedback

So I figured I would use an optical cable from the 360 to the computer and then use that to transfer my sound through the computer speakers. Upon looking for reviews howver, many cables seem to fit poorly in the 360.

Instead of reading all of that, I suppose you could just read this, What is a good optical cable to run through my 360, one that fits well with no problems?

I know all about monoprice, I was just curious if any fit better than others with the 360 judging on past reviews I have found online.

Can't answer that, I ordered their standard non-metallic optical cable and it seemed to not stay in the slot as in like, locked in or comes out REALLY easily. Getting the metallic coated ones in about 2 days since I needed some longer cables so gonna see how those turn out.

I got mine off of amazon for 0.07 of my pennies the postage and packaging cost about 2.50 though and it fits my 360 ( which just hangs down from the rear of my media center and has never fallen out or anything ) and my PS3 fine and sound is great.

Yeah it is digital, so the cable isn't going to make a difference in sound quality, unless it is so bad that the signal can't make it. I have a lot of cables from monoprice, and they are all great.

To further drive home a few points made already. Optical is Digial therefore any cable is as good as anyother cable. The optical cable im using on my 360 is a cable i bought for my PS2 that was advertised as a PS2 optical cable.
