So i bought a new PC and a GTX 550 for Diablo 3 (yeah what a mistake)

So after playing frustrating NOT FUN hours into inferno i've decided to wait maybe a few months before going back into Diablo 3 since i think right now the game isnt fun at all (im 29 years old with not a lot of time on my hands, can't grind hours and hours to find items, got a life to live.)

So i'm looking for some good games i missed for PC since i can actually run those games now.

I'm mainly looking for something to play with a mouse, i don't really want to play Arkham Asylum on PC...

Any suggestions from the past 2 or 3 years i NEED to play ? So far i was looking into buying RAGE (???)

DO NOT buy RAGE. Games you NEED to play, well I guess RPG's like Dragon Age Origins and (especially) The Witcher 2. FPS games I would recommend are Battlefield 3, Tribes Ascend (free to play) and (especially) Metro 2033. Indie games like Amnesia and (especially) Super Meat Boy. Just a few off the top of my head.

What actually do you mean with 'I'm mainly looking for something to play with a mouse'? Games you play with a mouse only or just about any game?

and, fyi, Dragon Age WAS meant to be played with a mouse and keyboard. The first game is MUCH different on PC than on consoles. A much more tactical experience.

Bioshock, Fallout 3, Mirrors Edge, Crysis and Portal are just a few more I can think of. If you want to go really far back I highly recommend Morrowind, completely different than Skyrim and Oblivion.

Rage was ok, worth checking out if you like post apocalyptic stuff. It has its flaws, but still fun.

But you should specify what kinda genre you like. Me for one likes point n click adventure games and rpgs. I would recommend Gemini Rue, Blackwell series, The Witcher 2 and STALKER.

I would recommend checking out Metro 2033, Stalker series, Hard Reset, and Rage is ok if you can get it cheap. Shogun 2, Company of Heroes, and CIV V if you like strategy games.

Wasn't Rage a horrible console port? I tend to steer away from those games as far as possible.

No. It had some driver issues at launch, but that's been ironed out since launch. The thing people seem to complain about the most is the texture pop-in, but that's not a result of poor porting as it is the way megatextures work.

The textures were very inconsistent all round, and I'll take normal textures without the pop in any day. The gameplay itself was nothing special, the driving gameplay was not good at all and the story wasn't interesting. Not to mention the serious lack of graphics tools both at launch and then the lackluster implementation of them afterwards. TC asked for good PC games, RAGE is not a game you should put on your list of good PC games.

As for Cryostasis, I thought it was excellent. Be warned that it is probably the most poorly optimized game to date.

Thx for all the great game suggestions !

When i'm saying a game with a mouse, i mean not the kind of game made for console ported to PC, i don't have a game controller for PC so playing like Arkham Asylum on PC is not something i would do.

I'm really enjoying Warhammer so far, i installed skyrim but gosh... the menus on PC are horrible, it's a mix between mouse and keyboard.. just horrible.

I'll try to get maybe some Call of Duty game, never tried those. I still want to give RAGE a shot, the viduals look sick !

And the upcoming Alien Colonial Marine game looks awesome

Well, the Valve games will keep you occupied for quite a while, with all of them being amazing. Half life 2, Ep 1 and Ep 2 should give you about 40 hours of the best single player game ever. Portal 1 and 2 will keep you occupied for 15-20 hours and are great fun, especially P2 its so funny! Counter Strike Source still, after 8 years, has over 60 000 people playing daily. Team Fortress 2 is Free to play and also has 60 000 or so players daily. Left 4 dead 2 has got you covered on killing mass hordes of zombies - Friends recommended for this one. Then check out Crusaders kings 2, pretty much the easiest to get into but still amazing Grand strategy, you really can do ANYTHING. Mount and Blade Warband - The best medieval simulation game EVER, with combat being skillful and visceral, the single-player is amazing and people spend 1000+ hours on this game, mods make it even better. Then pick up the post-release DLC Napoleonic Wars and experience the Napoleonic (Early Gun powder weapons) era. Be anything from Infantry, Cavalry, Musicians or Artillery, with 200+ players in a server, this gets hectic and is immense fun! Also, make sure you check out Day Z, the popular mod for Arma 2. Ever wanted a game where instead of "Spawn in map with zombies, kill them all" you wanted "Spawn in open-world with permanency death and have to SURVIVE the zombie apocalypse"? This game is the Survival game! It's multi-player and so while you have to watch out for zombies, you also have to be careful of humans. Because, just like in a real life zombie invasion, there's those people who will kill you and loot your body. If none of that interests you, well you are stupid :P

Rage is a challenging game, fairly demanding on graphics, and unless you get the right drivers, and patches, it is a nightmare to get working right. Games I would reccomend if you like a good keyboard mouse combination:

For adventure, actions styled games:

- Without a doubt you owe it to yourself to play one the best pc series of games ever created...Assassins Creed 1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations and 3 to be released in October.

- Fallout 3, and Fallout Vegas

- Tomb Raider Legend, Underworld, and Anniversary

- Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

- Skyrim

- Witcher 1,2

For Shooters:

- Battlefield Bad Company 2

- Battleflield 3

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

- Bulletstorm

-Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad

- Metro 2033 (this can be a frame rate pusher though)

- Cyrsis, Warhead, Crysis 2

These are some great titles and all play great with mouse and keyboard. Enjoy!

Yea the default menus kind of suck (I found them bad even on the console). First thing I did was install the SkyUI mod. Makes the menus much more manageable. It does require the Skyrim Script Extender however, bu that shouldn't be a problem.

All this talk about Rage but didn't it seem like a borderlands ripoff? Same vehicle physics and not really open world but down a liner path of an open world? The only thing that set it apart from Borderlands is it didn't have coop. I went into the game thinking fallout open world go wherever you want but was interrupted by the invisible walls and the crap vehicle physics. Why can't they just copy the Warthog from Halo CE lol i like loose handling not tight arcade bs for my vehicles.

I agree with you about Mount & Blade. Native Expansion, and then later Warbard were on my PC for 6 months straight, it was the only game on my PC at the time. I have been a PC gamer since 1983 and no game ever has occupied this much time exclusively on my PC ever for this duration of time. My bad, I'm sorry I did not include it on my list, beccause it absolutely plays amazing with mouse and keyboard. The best midieval game ever created.

I have not tried it for a good length of time but the m/kb is suppose to work really well for the Batman games its not the same as something like devil may cry and all call of duty games from a control perspective are flawless on the pc great quake like mouse control if your looking for a good modern entry to start with get call of duty 4 my favorite one in the series.

My bad, I'm sorry I did not include it on my list, beccause it absolutely plays amazing with mouse and keyboard. The best midieval game ever created.

I never even heard of that game and after watching a few videos on YouTube I can easily see how people can put in a lot of time into that game. Is it still popular?

In answer to your question I encourage to take a look a this site, http://www.mbrepository.com/ I think you will see, this game has a huge following and with additional mods, is absolutely incredible. It is amazing to to see huge armies clash on horseback. Lances, swords, shields, arrows flying everywhere, footmen bringing up the rear, cleaning house with double bladed axes, and maces its just sweet. You are the commander of your army, (also mounted on horseback if you choose) order your armies formations, give battlefield commands, to halt, advance, retreat, attack, hold fire, etc. In fact one of the most amazing scenes in the game, is when your first start your battle on the 3D rendered battlefields, trees rocks, rivers, highground, low-ground, mountains, and even environment, rain, fog, nightime, daytime etc. It's so great to order your archers into formation, they quickly form a firing line, (and according to how many men you have, (100-200) you can either release them to fire at will, or just wait, as the enemy comes into range. I usually tell the to hold fire, then as the enemy appoaches, fire volleys of hundreds of arrows, then give the order to charge, and release my calvary. It's amazing to see, 50-60 lancers, and mounted archers, just decimate on oncoming army. My personal preference in the game, is being a mounted archer, I 'm deadly accurate off the back of a horse, and it is so amazing playing a cat and mouse game with other enimies on horseback trying to evade me. The game though isn't just realtime combat, it is also diplomacy, politics, building alliances and loyalties, building your party, (there are NPC"S you meet along the way that will join you) and morale, popularity, and your leadership ability are all based in how you make decisions, and who you choose to take with you or not. The first game Native, was fairly primitive in its graphics and control schemes, but the modding community can make this game soar now. With high res graphic inhancements, arena mods, (yes there are even arena contests, melee, horseback competitions with javelin and achery to the death battles) terreain mods, enviromental mods, army sizing mods, (now a thousand or more in your army on the screen at the same time) weapons mods, new horses, new stories, factions and lands. You really have to play this game to believe it. Again a well kept secret too bad more haven't discovered it.:(

Agreed, it's fantastic, can't believe you never played it! I reccomend The Floris Mod Pack for your first playthrough, so much content! Then you can move to the conversions, from which i reccomend Prophesy Of Pendor and Brytenwalda.

Agree. Nothing beats the view of Prussian infantry doing a bayonet charge.

As Mods goes I agree, Prophecy of Pendor really stands out, and yes the Floris mod pack, along with More Metal Sounds 2.2 and the High res graphic enhancement mod, 2.5, really make this game come alive. Did you ever install the arena mod? It adds trees, obstacles, water, and new terrain to the arenas. Really makes the arena battles fun and more challenging. :) Like you I wish more people had heard of this game it truly is fantastic.

The best games that I have played in the past 10 years: Team Fortress 2, Portal and StarCraft II. Can't really recommend anything else that isn't a complete waste of your time.
