Those speakers are dung. Avoid Logitech altogether when it comes to speakers. What music do you listen to? If you don't require massive bass, I recommend you get these. Be prepared to forget everything you already knowabout audio and get ready to be impressed. :)

If you listen to bass-heavy music, be prepared to choose between sound quality and bass frequencies. Really, these should provide enough bass for everything except for dubsteb and rap. :)

I have limited space so the speakers need to be max 6 inches wide to fit on my small computer desk. Would those be too big?

These would also be good. Come in just at your budget and are just under 6 inches wide. Really excellent sound quality as well for 200.

Did you recommend that one cause it has the subwoofer build in for smaller space? I have room for a subwoofer. Just the satellites needed to be under 6 inches wide.

Those are 7" wide so if they absolutely must fit into a 6" width they won't fit.

I reckon it wouldnt hurt for them to hang an inch off the side would it?

Its not ideal but shouldn't really be worse then having them fully on the desk which in of itself not ideal.

Is it good to put the subwoofer on the floor or on the bottom of my computer desk?

I didnt know subwoofers produced any noise till I watched a bass test of a 2.1 setup. I was wondering what a subwoofer does. I thought it was just a box that makes bass come out of the satellites. What does a subwoofer do and where should it be placed?

Subwoofers are what reproduce the lower bass frequencies that the main speakers can't. As for placement you should place the subwoofer on the floor and move it around a bit to where you think it sound best.

Alright, alright: Folks are getting a bit all over the place now.

You said you wanted speakers primarily for listening to music. In general, if you are looking for high-quality, accurate audio reproduction on a budget, you have to sacrifice somewhere. At under $200 you'll generally have to make the decision to either go 2.0 or 2.1, and that decision is made by how much you like bass.

The Klipsch Promedia 2.1 is probably the best value in a 2.1 computer speaker system. I won't go into detail on why it's so good, since that is easily found in a Google search for reviews of the system. It will perform best if you're using your PC speakers for multiple applications: music, movies, and especially video games.

You will get better audio fidelity from a 2.0 system like the Audioengine A2, M-Audio AV40, or KRK Rokit RP5G2. These are going to be your best options for music, but you will lose some punch in the bass department. These are your best options for listening to music.

If you are considering hanging your speakers on the wall, consider some of your options at Parts Express. It is a reputable retailer with good to excellent prices on speaker parts, wiring, and accessories.

Good luck,

Boz
