Get a less powerful PSU unless you are going with a SLI or Crossfire setup. Better processor, maybe phenom II, and a cheaper case like the Antec 300.

Holy Cow! I forgot about the TLB bug! OP, the processor has to be changed to a 9550 or later... unless you enjoy %15 decrease in performance and random heat gouges...

i guess ill get this cpu instead since i do get about $50 worth of rebates anyway

AMD Phenom X4 9950 Quad Core Processor HD995ZXAGHBOX - Black Edition, 2.60GHz, 4MB Cache, 2000MHz (4000 MT/s) FSB, Agena, Quad-Core, Retail, Socket AM2+, Processor with Fan

i picked that psu because i like consair and the only cheaper one is a 400w and it wont be able to support a really nice video card that ill get some time in the future

That's a good processor. About the PSU, don't think you have to buy ONLY Corsair, you can look at other companies too.

Translation Lookaside Buffer Bug: I would make it all complicated; but it is basically latency problems that increase overtime (the computer being on) and can hit your performance by 25% and can even cause random crashes...

Well it looks decent (I am not an expert) but you don't have an OS, that will add $100 more

If he Right now as a DVD burner he can go on Window 7 Release Candidate It Free until june 2010 we used it on my Dad Computer who don't own anymore a Retail XP Because it my XP since like 3 year so he ad no OS beside Unregistered XP that can't get update and warn him that message then we ad to reformat the PC to get more power : which would lose most of update unless you'r wise

We installed Window 7 Release Candidate 32 Bits for is 2GB of ram : it the best setup if you have 2GB to download the 32 Bits Edition It will be Free for a Year : if i was you id Get Window 7 RC since it Free and in huge quantity for a Year and it seem quite stable at moment if he do that he can save up money to decide in future to Either buy Window 7 or Copy of window XP ;)

Even tough in moment that Window 7 RC is Less Performances By Small % in gaming the Window 7 Beta it as Less bug and it still superrior by far of Vista Sp1 Window 7 is a Great OS compare to Vista it Surpass it in any-time : boot time / Aero Theme is Better : everything in window 7 is Better then Vista Without the vista bug that million of peopel complain

so far as i could observe as we installed it On my Father new hard Drive it a 7200:12 1TB of Seagate : work Awesome :D how Ever I wonder if something will really Being Beneficial to have Window 7 Retail vs Release Candidate In Therm of Performances and Compatibility as Window 7 RC can get update until 2010 June

Which mean probably Window 7 service pack 1 once it release which may dramatically improve gaming performances or general task performances If you compare Window XP From Sp1 to Sp2 there a big change : tough much less with Sp3 i bet window 7 Will get major improvement within a Service pack for those thing that we may still dislike from not being XP such as gaming performances is Lowered Over XP for Sure for game that ain't DX 10

All Game that are DX9 Based Will run better on XP even if it by 2-3fps it a fact because the OS Vista is more power hunger and Seven a little bit too but i Believes of it to get some nice update just like XP did that will do that Such as Reduce the VM Requirement on stuff / Free more CPU % / allow Better Performances with Drivers of Video card who know i'm not specialist in OS I just know how good is XP for General using on DX9 Game And Lot of programs

Anyway back to pc Building at last a Phenom 9850 / 9950 is Better then 9500 by Lot specially if you overclock in future A PSu of 400-550wats is More then enough specially if in the incoming month or year you can assemble money for Decent video card : it will may only get risky to get under 550W if you get card as 285gTx / 4890 1GB
