I've read good things about VelocityMicro and ABS, but are there any other reliable stores to buy from online?

I only have around 1400-1500 dollars to spend, so I can't go with a place that's too fancy.

Thanks!

I got mine from Dell online. They were having a sale, and you could fully customize it however you wanted. You might try there.

I was thinking about Dell but I saw that all their computers come with a 375watt power supply, which would really suck if I wanted to get a direct x 10 videocard someday.

Did they have good service?

Newegg is the bomb when it comes to desktops, laptops, pc parts, and all the pc sh** u'll ever need. And comes with cheap prices, and usually ships u the product in time. Go there and try it out.

Cyberpower has mixed reviews. So say everything came fine, others say that they even received wrong components. So it's a luck thing. They are dirt cheap, though. With prices like that I wouldn't be surprised if they only made a few dollars profit per PC. Velocity Micro is an excellent choice, but don't even THINK of getting a DX 10 setup for around US$ dollars, then you're dreaming. The card itself will be around 1/6 to 1/3 of the price, depending on the one you want. The processor options are reduced due to price constraints, and you'll end up buying one that bottlenecks your card. RAM won't be so good, and neither will memory. I won't even begin with the monitor. I'm looking to buy one myself from Velocity Micro, it's around US$2,000, because I don't trust Cyberpower. I might hold out until prices on the 8800 gts 640 drop, so i can snatch that instead of a 7950 GTS 512 card, as id have to switch the mobo as well later when it comes to upgrading itme.

Yeah, I was thinking that I'd put around 1500 in now and then add the extra gig of ram in a month and then the extra harddrive and someday a nice DX 10 card, but I figure now I'll just get a nice processor, ram, sli motherboard and power supply so that I'll be set. I figure in a year I'll buy a quad core anyway, so I should be as cheap as possible now.

I've looked up all the PC companies on the bbb and all that I've found is that PC makers suck.

I'm typin on my velocity micro PC right now...

I suggest gettin one from velocity micro: Customer service has garnered excellent reviews from online review companies, wiring is EXCELLENT, seriously its one of the best wiring jobs i've ever seen, all the parts are retail, unlike some PC builders, velocity uses the higher grade Retail components rather than OEM.... also you get all of the instruction booklets (WOOT)...

also, i haven't had any probs with it and i've had it for 2 months so....

get one!

I wouldn't order from cyberpowerpc if you value your sanity.

I decided to buy one during christmas after reading all the good reviews.....BIG mistake. The computer constantly freezed up during games, being more of a DIY kinda guy I tried everything I could to resolve the issue. After trying seemingly everything under the sun I sent it back to them for repair. Waited 2 weeks, thought I would finally be able to enjoy my games when it arrived early morning.....WRONG.

The computer would not even boot up, it was worse off then when I sent it back. The customer support is also terrible, and if you're looking to get a response out of them via email you better forget it. I sent an email to them back in december and still to this day haven't got a reply. Their phone support is also disgusting, each time I called a man with a middle eastern accent picked up ( Do they have more then 1 guy working at support?! ) . I could barely understand him.

Cyberpowerpc is a gamble, you could get a good one, or be a victim like me. Don't do it.

I am now disputing the payment with the credit card company and getting a full refund, regardless if I am under refund policy, and I'm not going to look back.

Do some research and order parts from www.newegg.com, and build it yourself. You will be much happier with the end result.

find a site that lets you build your own

dont buy pcs from dell or hp or companies like that

they preload your computer with useless garbage

better to build your own and install the software you need, and $1400 is plenty of money to get a high end pc when you build your own

You couldn't buy a cheaper AND colder PC, though. The combination of thermoelectric cooling and liquid cooling Dell has implemented is extremely effective.

Dell have excellent customer service - and the 375 Watt PSU is by no means a cheap one, it's a good PSU. Of course, it still might hold you back if you wanted to install an R600 or 8800 series - but it would probably do for the 8600 cards.

Build a PC. The cheapest Dell XPS 710 is $1,999. It comes with:
E6300 proc at 1.86GHz
1gig DDR2 Ram at 667MHz
7900GS

My computer that im building (just ordered the parts on Friday) that cost $2,120 and has:
E6600 at 2.4GHz
2 Gig DDR2 Ram at 800MHz
8800GTX

You get what I'm saying hear?

It's better to build your own if you are confident.
