I have been looking around at some gaming computers trying to find a good price.I found a place with an "extreme" PC on special.Look at the specs and tell me if you think its a good price. It will be greatly appreciated.

ThermalTake Armor Case

Antec 850W Power supply

Intel Q6850 extremeCPU

4 GB Ram with heat sink

2 500GB Hard drives

2 HD 2600XT video set in crossfire -- (can get with two HD 2900 or 8800GTS 640MB but cost more$$$ Plus I like ATI)

All in one card reader

2 20x Dual layer DVD burneres with light scribe.

Acer 22" widescreen LCD 800:1

Windows XP pro sp2

Keyboard and mouse?

I'm sure that I am missing something in there but that is the jist of it. The special price they have on it right now is . $3352.96 Do you all think that is a good price.

No and build your own. You can build a better rig for $2000 including m/kb, 22" monitor, and OS.

Also, 2600 in crossfire would be absolute garbage compared to one 8800GT or GTX.

With a Q6850?,But the CPU on that is over $1000 by its self. Then you consider the other hardware and I cant really see it. I have looked at some of the places like cybertron, vigor, ibuypower, and a few others and comparible systems are running above $4000

I downed the video card as I dont know if I want the larger one. they havepretty much the same comp with2 8800GTS 640 but its sitting at $3500.I prefer ATI anyway.

First of all, paying 1000 dollars for a CPU that is only .6 megahurtz faster than a Q6600 which only costs about $270 is insane, especially since the new intel and AMD processors are almost here.

Secondly, 2 2600XTs in crossfire is a joke. Those cards will suck more power, give off more heat, and underperform a single 8800GT. Honestly, if you bought an 8800 GT and a q6600 and overclocked the CPU with an aftermarket cooler you would get better performance for, literally, half the price.

OK dont get all huffy now. I prefer ATI. one of The reasons being is that crossfire / or ati surround viewsupports viewing up to 5 monitors. Nividia only supports 4. While this doesnt help with gaming unless in crossfire mode. I do a lot of image editing and other things so having the extra monitors is nice. The more the better.

And waiting for new technology to come out would be a never ending cycle, you would always be waiting. I cant sit here and wait for the next new upcoming thing because as soon as it comes out something new is already in the works.
