I want to get a new game, but I'm afraid I'll get something I'll hate as much as I hated Crysis 3. The Battlefields seem to be multi-player, Far Cry 3 looks like a crappy port, and everything seems to have crude graphics. I like Far Cry 2, Crysis, and Crysis Warhead because of the great graphics. Is there anything like them out now or coming out soon? A single-player first-person shooter with spectacular graphics.

Far Cry 3 is awesome. Try Deus Ex: Human Revolution, as well.

Far Cry 3 is anything but a crappy port. You don't even know what you're saying. Best game of last year

You could also try Metro 2033, The STALKER games or Half life/half life 2/Black Mesa

Far Cry 3 was simply awesome. Definitely not a bad PC port. Looks and plays great.

Metro 2033 has a really cool atmosphere, but I didn't find the gunplay satisfying, but that's the minority opinion.

Far Cry 3 is actually a beautiful game on PC.

You could try Metro 2033, set the difficulty at hardcore and you're in for great fun. Half-Life is pretty awesome too.

Ok, thanks for the edit (???). Yeah, to judge by the previews and videos, the water looks like green paint and the jungle looks cartoony, like Far Cry 1 on that setting where it looks cartoony.

Get Bioshock: infinite.DefconRave

I loved the look and story of Bioshock, but I couldn't get behind all the mumbo-jumbo weaponry. This one does look great. Do you own it? It's a straightforward shooter?

I tried the Metro demo, and it's super dark and restricted. The fight mechanics are clunky, too, I thought.

I have Bioshock 1&2 and love them both. Bioshock: infinite seems to have the same mechanics i.e. guns plus powers so if you dislike the 1st bioshock you may not like this one. It's not a straight forward shooter like COD or Battlefield, as in the environments are more open and you have various ways to kill your enemies and move around the area.

By "straightforward" I meant not a lot of talk and role play and cutscenes and bullsh** story. Open is good. Thanks.

oh, then Bioshock should be ok, there are few cutscenes and all the talking is in-game and you can still control your character. Alot of the story is also found in optional voice recordings and such so if you want to skip that you can do it.

Man, kids these days eh? :)
I was going to say Fallout 3 & New Vegas but I see you want graphics...

Far Cry 3 does run well (and looks gorgeous) but that series still lacks something to make me play a game all the way through.
Deus Ex HR is a nifty FPS that still looks pretty good.
Bioshock Infinite is comming out soon as others have said.
Metro 2033 is pretty, but again, lacks some oomph.
Borderlands 1 or 2.
Does Mirror's Edge count? Doesn't matter, just get it :)

STALKER has got some of the best atmosphere in any game ever (mods can also give it some very good looking graphics) Singularity is a pretty solid shooter, not that great looking though Far Cry 3 is actually a great port and huge improvement over FC2, looks beautiful too Deus Ex: Human Revolution is amazing There's also that remake of the first Painkiller which I guess is worth checking out if you want some brainless gory fun.

Get the Stalker games. All of them. Don't forget the Complete Mods, though.

Metro 2033 is damn good too. Give it another chance. I wasn't totally convinced early on, either, but it grew on me very fast after the first couple levels.

Also, yeah, Far Cry 3 is damn fun, absolutely gorgeous, and actually a fantastic PC version.

Far Cry 3 is great but has 1 major problem.

In the cutscenes it makes you out to be this normal guy - not a soldier like many games. Yet the game is way too easy. I can kill an enemy 100 meters away with 2 shots from a silenced SMG.

I am playing on hard btw.

The cutscenes actually have some emotion and then i'm back to feeling invincible.

Far Cry 3 was really cared for and you can tell the whole team really wanted you to feel like you were the character adding so much detail to point of view/first person perspective. It is the most beautiful game and the most immersive game of 2012

I'd say Tomb Raider 9, though basically it's not a FPS, you can choose rifles, bows, pistols, etc , I enjoyed the weapon combinations. Also heard that the new DLC will unlock more weapons. So it's all up to you.

I've seen the trailers. Cutscenes that are not even in high def, with motion blur that would give an astronaut vertigo. They spit on us, and we lick it up and ask for more. So, we've got enemy who are all deaf with tunnel vision, and a CG babe I'm supposed to wank off to? Show me gameplay in full 1920.

Hmm well I did not like any of the farcry's , so are you going just for graphics. For overall experience... Id say half life. There is a half like source and a black mesa remake that are very good. I agree with someone below. Bioshock was terrific. Stay away from BF3 for single player. It was pretty weak. You might like Fallout 3 too buddy. Have a great day!

edit : did like farcry... I meant crysis

Metro 2033 has a nice atmosphere and story, but the gunplay is bad.
