I was eating chili and pringles just now and I thought of a good storyline for a game. Maybe good for a FPS, or RPG/action.

Ok, here it is. Some country with an unstable gov (I won't name any so it won't offend) has a dictator leader on his deathbed and since he's a total douche he orders the launch of all the nukes in his/her country towards the moon. So they are launched, moon is destroyed into a million pieces. Wolves all over the globe are confused as hell, and the apollo 11 astronauts feel like losers. Moving on.

The dictator thinks it's awesome and he's like, "take that western world, I hate you" then he promptly dies of brain failure. So now some pieces of the moon continue to revolve around Earth, some escape the gravity, and some fall to earth and destroy cities and darken the world with dust that fills the atmosphere. Some ppl die from the impacts, some die from lack of food/resources, others just go insane because the never-ending darkness has given crickets free-reign to annoy the hell out of everyone.

So, here you are. You're a bum or something, with like a bindle, and a lighter, a flask of whiskey, and some taco bell from the previous day. Your initial objective is to survive and find other survivors.

From this point, I'm not sure where the story would go, but I think that initial storyline would make for some cool scenery and that whole feel of, "hey, i'm somewhere familiar, but wait, it's totally different now." I don't know how the story would end. Maybe you'd find a rocket and try to blast off to mars but accidently blast off towards the sun since you're just a hobo and not a scientist.

Good idea? Dumb? Any suggestions or other details that should be included?

Cause the guy is insane. If he nukes the world everyone dies in an instant. Nuke the moon, and then ppl have to deal with it for eternity.

Deal with what the sun? Seriously! This is like fallout but instead of nuking the hole bloody earth and having a crap load of mutants and raiders you have to deal with an eternity of daylight!

oh yeah then you can have most of the survivors turn into morlocks

wait a minute that was already done in the time machine

I do like the way you think tho, the story is somewhat original and would be a nice start to a post apocylptic game.

How exactly would blowing up the moon result in an eternity of daylight? I'm just curious. I wonder if that would make for a good story aspect. A game with eternal daylight and finding darkness is actually a good thing.

Oh yah! That was kind of stupid of me =P... your storyline still sucks.

What if about if it where a story about a eternal battle of humans against some kind of humanoid vampiric alien species in the XV century! No wait! In a paralel world of the XV century with advanced old technology, you know like some kind of steam powered weapons(I know they propably didn't have steam during that time, but this is an example from Steamboy). But wait! The humans would be the bad guys! You know in the XV century people were all religious, and so they would attack the utopian world of the vampires because they went against the will of God! And so the humans used some kind of disco ball to create a second sun and trap the vampire world in sun light!

Just so you guys know this hole BS is copyrighted.

i never did like stories that try to answer 'what if...' questions (i.e., what if an evil dictator blew up the moon with all his nukes?). but hey, it's better than stories in most shooters, so that's something.

Yeah, really makes you wonder why FPS gaming companies don't come up with something better. I came up with this one over lunch, and I'm not paid to do it. I can surely think that game companies could make it better. But no... they don't. They just crank out the same bs storylines year after year with some exceptions.

Hey here's a storyline for ya FPS game developers: It's WWII, and you're just some soldier. No wait, someone gets kidnapped and you're the only one that can save them. No wait, terrorists break in and do something and you have to stop them from doing whatever it is they are doing. "OMG! He's a genius. Let's hire him!"

How about it's 2250 AD. The world is way hotter than it used to be. The ice caps melted, but everything was pretty much fine with the exception of some states/countries being engulfed by water (who cares). Drug use in the world is at an all time high because several super awesome drugs were invented and they are super addictive. You were a hobo digging in some garbage when you looked through a window and you saw someone trying to purchase a turkey sandwich from a vending machine, but it wouldn't come out, so they left just as the sandwich fell. So you go inside to go get it since you're hungry. While you're in there you discover that the government purposely made those drugs because it does something to keep uprisings from going against the corrupt gov. Generations of people have fallen victim to these drugs. Your objective? Get the turkey sandwich, forget about the global conspiracy, and find some way to get hooked up with the drug.

I hate to be this guy, but todays nuclear ICBM's dont have the capibility to reach the moon. Simply too far away, America's and Russia's are the only ones that can go any place on the Earth. But not the moon, other than that yea thats a good idea. Maybe if you place it in the future when they do have that capibility.

The problem is not that game devs don't want to make original storys, it's that game publishers find them to risky, I mean, just look at Psychonauts.

The best idea for a storyline is this...

A war torns apart earth...Civilians get killed everyday..everywhere..no matter what. The only ones who can save us are ...the...

GAMESPOT Community!!!Great idea for a MMO.and the characters would be us.I would be a Biltros for example...Nice?

It just amazes me that people drink it. I bought myself a bottle a few months ago and I had to get drunk before I could drink it. It was just vile. Utterly vile.

I can't imagine anyone willingly drinking whiskey unless they really wanted to punish themselves for something.

Yeah, straight... sux. Anything over like 20% alc/vol sux straight. But for the storyline, the guy is a bum, and he buys what is cheap and doesn't take up a lot of space in his backpack. You wouldn't expect him to carry around a case of beer would you? And you might ask, "but why does he have to have alcohol in the first place?" Because, he's a bum! Bums have to carry it around. It's like a universal requirement. And generally they carry it in a nondescript brown paper sack.
