So for many years I was a Firefox user, because it was faster and more reliable than Internet Explorer. However, about three months ago, Firefox starting crashing a lot, even after downloading the latest version.

Getting fed up of the problem not getting fixed (it also stopped being able to play videos despite having the relevant plug-ins installed) I switched back to using Internet Explorer, which I find is a lot slower, especially in my room where I receive weak signal. Internet Explorer still seems to crash periodically which has been really annoying me.

By chance, whilst downloading the latest Piriform CC Cleaner, I downloaded Google Chrome alongside it. I wasn't too impressed last time I tried using Google Chrome, but I figured I may as well see if it worked better than Firefox and IE.

Wow, it's certainly a lot better! Everything loads up faster, videos are played with minimal buffering despite the weak signal and it's ease of use is very good also (having a toolbar which you can just type into that is readily accessible). I'm just hoping that GC stays working as well as it does. If anybody else is having trouble with their browser, then give the new Google Chrome a try and see what you think.

I have Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 4. I tried Opera a couple of years ago, but have not tried it for a while- I didn't find it any different from the other two.

I find that surprising, Opera has many things other browsers lack, even going back a few years.

yah I also like chrome. Firefox is also pretty good but it crashes more than id like. IE8 blew but IE9 is really a big step up from microsoft. Also IE has more support for software than the other browsers I find. Still chrome is faster and I really like the google search engine thats integrated into the url bar.

I used Chromium during the firefox 4.0b stages but since the official release I have been using firefox 4. It is an amazingly solid and quick browser with all the add-ons I want. I haven't noticed an appreciable speed difference between FF and Chromium/Chrome.

I haven't had a single issue with FF 4 thus far and I'm glad to be back. I think that this is the first browser to not give me a single problem :?

Well that's weird because as I said Firefox 4 still crashes too often and it won't play flash videos, even with the Flash Plugin. I've had no problems like that with Chrome, which is why I'm so impressed by it.

Palemoon still is my favorite.. Super optimized firefox.. Add in all the plugins like No script, ad block plus, better privacy, and its literally 1 sec load time of webpages for me (cut out ALL website redirects, ads, and ability to stop internal flash redirects)... Chrome is very nice and is my second browser but still doesn't have the stopping power of firefox and addons.

I use Opera as my main browser. Chrome is WAY too simplified, and the add ons are kinda weak IMO, also no ad blocking as far as I can find. Opera just has everything where I like it, lots of options, super fast, tab stacking, the super awesome speed dial, and all the extensions I need and then some, and can be ladened with ad blockers lol I uninstalled all other browsers except IE9 which I use as a back up if a website doesn't work in Opera.

I've actually been thinking about switching to Chrome from Firefox 4, which actually loads slower than Photoshop sometimes. Do they have a decent tree style tab addon yet?

Loads slower than Photoshop?

FF4 takes maybe 4-6 seconds to load... :? Once it is cached it should only take around 1 second.

Chome does have a faster inital load but it's nothing special.

Chrome seems to have way less addons than firefox. And i have lots of addons. My favourite is probably multirow bookmarks toolbar, so i can have lots of easy to access bookmarks. Does chrome have anything like that? Also personas is good, there are tons of themes for firefox, chrome didn't seem to have nearly as many.

All programs that you just installed is going to be faster than the rest, your pc seems to be full of crap. I bet your antivirus is the windows security virus.

I'm on an SSD with superfetch disabled... normally it takes Firefox a second to load but if I'm working with huge seq r/w it can slow down to 5-10 seconds, while all my other programs load as fast as usual (1-3 secs), it's pretty weird.

So does Chrome have a good tree style tab yet?

when did you last check? there's been a pair of adblock plugins (one more recently from the same FF group, one from a splinter that started early on in chrome's extension history). and noscript is just built in to chrome - 'click to run' or 'disallow' extensions rather than 'always run.'

I used to be the same way. Started out with Internet Explorer before a friend introduced me to the wonders of Firefox. When Chrome came out I wasn't too impressed, but now its my main web service and I love it.

My main criticism is that it seems to have a slightly higher rate of pages not loading compared to firefox and also occasionally does not let me copy and paste. Other then that though, its great.

I'd been using FF under Windows for about 5 years or more, and I hadn't had much problem, except a few crashes. But I recently migrated to Ubuntu Linux and FF got buggy with Flash. It sometimes started to blink when I played Flash games, and it failed to load most Flash-videos (videos on Youtube were fine though). Sometimes it just showed blank screen, and sometimes it loaded the video, but with blinking black squares on it, which was quite disturbing. That's a known bug for FF, so I migrated to Chrome (Chromium) because I had to. Yet I'm quite satisfied: It's faster than FF and convenient enough for me. My only issues are that sometimes it fails to open a new tab with middle-click and I miss the quick search bar from FF. None of these issues are critical though, Chrome is a fine browser and a viable and fast alternative for FF.

To all the Chrome lovers here, I'd like to recommend the browser Iron, it's basically Chrome but without the privacy compromising aspects. Though IMO, Opera is the best, and can't be beat!
