It's a little warm, but if I recall the temp specs for that GPU, it's still within tolerance. What kind of case do you have and how many case fans?

That seems a little warm, but if your not getting artifacts then its not too hot.

One thing you might check is the GPU fan speed. I've read in other forums about some of the 8800GT cooler fans not spinning up under load. They seem to be stuck at about 30% of max rpm. But, it is a hot running card. Temps in the mid 80c range are pretty common, under full load.

Adding an extra fan to your case can make a substantial impact on the temperature. My GTS was running around 94-98C under full load (like in COD4 or Crysis), but adding another fan kicked it down to 86C

It's hot but I don't what the threshold is on those cards. Is airflow good in your case? How many fans? If all that is good, I would take off the cooler and put Arctic Silver 5 o it. I do it to all my GPU's and CPU's, on my 6800 & 7950GT it dropped temps by 10*C under load.

you need to buy a case fan because that is way too hot make sure your fan speed is on 100% because really the 8series shouldn't really be going over 85C

The fan speed is 60% by default. Use Rivatuner to change it.

That is within the technicallyacceptable operating temperature for an 8800 (My laptop's 8400M GS actually hit 94C on me once...), however, I do not find it to be acceptable:) I use a PCI exhaust and intake fan in tandem to keep my 8800GTS at a cool 42C idle, 50-some load. Custom modded Antec V-Cool (has an extra spacer in the middle) and some thermaltake pci exhaust fan.
