My 9600gt is not ideal for the new games coming out, and i've wanted to upgrade it for a while, but the next card i get i wont be upgrading for a long time, so i want something that will last hopefully. Also bearing in mind i play at 1360x768, i shouldnt need a beast of a card, but i want something that will run the latest games maxed out at that res. Im not certain i will be able to buy a new card, but i'd like some feedback as to what would be good, so far the 5770 has been my choice, but i've heard alot about the nvidia 460 card (i think thats what it is :S), and people saying its slightly better.

The GTX 460 would probably be your best choice.

460gtx is much better than 5770 but a bit overkill for that resolution. If u want a good card that last u a long time then go for 460gtx u wont regret it.

Yeah i've heard a lot of good things about it, but it costs a lot of money and i dont think im prepared to spend £160 + for that card, its just too much. On the other hand, i've been looking at the 4x series ati cards on amazon, and there is a 4890 going quite a bit cheaper than the 5770, what would you say about this? To me it seems like an amazing deal, surely the 4890 would be a lot more powerful?

How much is both the 5770 and 4890 you're looking at? The 4890 is, from a purely performance standpoint, the better card. Although it lacks the DX11 support that the 5770 has (which is somewhat trivial, but the only advantage that the 5770 has).

Ok firstly both cards im looking at our the XFX editions and both cost about £117 so there is very little difference in terms of the price. Im not bothered much about dx11, because it seems to me that there isnt much of a difference between dx 10 and 11, plus the 4890 seems to be a really powerful card. The ONLY thing putting me off the 4890 right now is the connectors, it says it needs one 6 pin and one 8 pin power connector and i dont know whether i will be able to use them :S. Here is my psu http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/10136872/CiT-650UB-Black-Edition-650W-PSU-Power-Supply-Unit/Product.html atm im running my 9600gt with one 6 pin connector i believe, which i can connect to my psu. Sorry for all the info, i want to know which will be the best choice, as its an expensive upgrade to make. Thanks, Sean

Did you not read what i posted, i dont want to spend a fortune just on a graphics card, they both cost ridiculous amounts of money. I want to buy the 4890, but need to know about the connectors..

Ok its looking like the xfx 5770 is going to be my choice if i upgrade, because unfortunately i cannot install the xfx4890 due to its stupid power connectors xD. Thx anyway for the advice, i wish i could get the nividia, but it looks too chunky for my matx board, and also its not cheap :/!
