GPU, XFX or eVGA. Or perhaps another?

My heart is set on the eVGA 8600GT so far, Perfect price for me. But is eVGA good? I just cant decide who I should buy from! My currect XFX 7600GS gets to 98+/heat. Not very cool, so I'm weary about another XFX. Esspecialy in a brand new PC in a few days.

That looks realy nice, it looks like I dont need a crazy power supply like the eVGA ones too right? I dont see a plug on it or anything.

Very tempting one there.

EVGA, XFX, and BFG are the top 3 GPU manufacturers IMHO. EVGA has lifetime warranty and step up program. XFX has double lifetime warranty. BFG has a lifetime warranty. I have dealt with all three company's tech support and I rank them all A+.

Also there's no power hook up to the EVGA 8600GT (I am pretty sure all 8600GT's are like that).

I would go with the EVGA in a heartbeat, the only thing is the MSI one comes overclocked. But with EVGA you can overclock it yourself and save some money and have a lifetime warranty, with the option to step it up.

Not true. For XFX i know that it doesnt use fastest RAM chips on 8800 series. Dont know for eVGA or BFG, but i know that my 8800 GTX from Club 3D uses fastest memory chips which can overclock higher than those which XFX puts on. The color of box and bundle means nothing. Warranty means a lot, but since many developers have same wararnty you should look who has better memory chips. XFX doesnt. At leastnot on 8800 series.

How high can you oc your memory on yours. I have gotten upto 2000 without any problems and did not feel the need to go any higher. I don't know how much higher it could go (probably not much). I am interested to know more about this do you have a link?

I buy based on #1 Customer support #2 Warranty. I can put my 6 and a half month old XFX8800GTX up on Ebay and sell it with a lifetime warranty from XFX. I like that.

Yeah. Thats great. Customer service. But i live in country where that means nothing thats why i bought that one.

About memory, i didnt overclock my GPU yet. But i read that they use fastsest chips. I think i could go up to 2200.

If you want to learn more just google. I am almost sure you knew that manufacturers use different memory.

I have question for you. Sorry if its out of topic, but i dont want to get new topic started. How is that LCD you use??

I am thinking to get it, but i am not 100% sure yet.

Yeah, for people who aren't covered by the warranty it does no good, by I live in the good ole U.S of A so it is a big plus for me.

I have been googling it ever sense I read what you posted, LOL. But I can't find anything about substandard or less equal memory. Do you remember anything about where you read this.

And about the LCD, I love it. I was a little worried going to the widescreen format, but it is great. The only thing is I had to get the 22" just so it would be as tall as my 19". Any shorter and it would have felt like a downgrade.

I am too lazy to find link. But the differences arent big. They are verys small. Like whit normal RAM. Like some use Micron D9 chips, some samsung chips. Some overclock better. But at GPUs these differences arent big as whit RAM. You really shouldnt worry.

In terms of performance you lose nothing, they can just overclock little bit better.

About LCD. I also want 22" cause now i have 19 and dont want to lose height. Thats why i dont want 20". Same as you.
