Hello, I have been trying to play games like call of duty 2 and doom 3 and they run really slow and choppy. I took this system requirements test and my graphics card was the only thing that failed the test. So my question is if I want to upgrade a graphics card, can i just upgrade to any graphics card or does it matter what my pc specs are?

I have a Pentium 4, 3.06 ghz, 896 RAM, 146 GB hard drive, ATI RADEON EXPRESS 200, and i have a PCI express slot.

Also if i can upgrade to a graphics card can anyone recommend a good graphics card that has good graphics?

How much are you wanting to spend?  Do you have a preference between ATI and nVidia?   A 7900GS for $150 will definitely improve your performance.  If you wanted a card that would last you longer, look at the 8800GTS for a little over $250.

Are you sure you have a pci-e slot and not PCI?

How big is your power supply? These newfangled cards require quite a bit of juice. You should be safe with a 7600GT or an 8600GT though.

A 7800GT would play nicely with that system.

How 'bout this one? $339.99, I found it at Tigerdirect. You might wanna check out Newegg, too.

That's total overkill for his system lol

It'd be like what Brabus did when they modified Mercedes' SL!

Yea my power supply output is 300w and i have a  ATI Radeon® Xpress 200 integrated graphics PCI-Express® (PCI-E x16) slot available Up to 128MB of shared video memory. So can anyone recommend a good graphics card with some good graphics?

is this any good? http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=CTVX1300PROPCIE256MB

I'd look into a better powersupply before looking into a video card.

if you want to game, just save up and get a new PC altogether, dont make expensive upgrades to that
