Likeliness of that happening is probably pretty high. IT will probably come out either at the same time or a short time after initial release.
I dont think we will have to wait another year like we did for GTA SA, that as only because Sony had a deal of exclusivity which no longer applies.
Remember GTA began on the PC.
SA came out for PC 8 months after the PS2 launch. I expect something similar with GTA IV if not sooner.RazorGR
That's only because Sony had a deal with Rockstar, which no longer applies.
It will probably be a couple months at least after the console version comes out, they do this because of piracy...if they put games on pc's same time as consoles they experience lower sales because they stripped of their protection systems and put on the warez sites so fast. Giving consoles several months head start increases profits quite a bit.
Why would you worry about a game like GTA IV coming out when Crysis, Bioshock, Half Life EP II, Quake Wars and lots of others come out around that time. GTA IV is the most OVERRATED GAME next to Halo, I am not here to flame but the only reason of its popularity is because it introduced sandbox genre.Marcus_Fenex
GTA is one of the most kick-butt gaming titles of all time and GTA IV seems to be shaping up to be one helluva ride! And your reason for why its popular is pathetic, quit trying to speak for other people.

Realise that as soon as they are released on consoles they are uploaded on the internet for download as well.

I would say Halo is the most overrated license out there... the hype surrounding this franchise is so ridiculous and questionable.
and all games are designed on pcs...ElectricNZ
Designed on PC's.. Yes, Models, Textures.. game assets. The engines however, especially with a game like this are built with their respective console architectures in mind. A PS3 game programmed from the ground up as a PS3 game will work differently than a PC game, especially considering the Multi-core nature of the PS3 and to an extent the Xbox 360.
I think it'll be out for PC, I bet we won't see it for at least a few months.
TC dw even if GTA 4 gets delayed coming out on P.C u can always get a X box 360 or PS 3 to play it:) indzman
Not if you hate auto aim and prefer the keyboard and mouse controlls. :)
GTA3
Released for PS2 Oct 2001
Released for PC roughly seven months later late May 2002
GTA: Vice City
Released for PS2 Oct 2002
Released for PC roughly seven months later mid-May 2003
GTA: San Andreas
Released for PS2 Oct 2004
Released for PC roughly seven months later early June 2005
See a trend?.....I sure do.
GTAIV
Scheduled release for PS3 and Xbox 360 Oct 2007
If GTA IV follows the same trend of the other GTA's, which is has a 90% chance of doing, we'll see it released roughly seven months later on PC in either May or June 2008.
Here's another thing to keep in mind that would be a benefit to the PC version.....Rockstar said in a Game Informer interview that they were having problems getting the game to be exactly the way they wanted on both consoles, due to the drives and storage space, they said on 360 the problem was fitting all the data on on DVD while PS3 had the superior capacity of Blu-Ray disc, however, on PS3 the drive read speeds were slower then that of the 360.
.......here's the thing, on a PC, neither of those issues would be a problem. Since GTAIV on PC would be installed to a hard drive, Rockstar doesn't have to worry about storage space or drive speed issues, since Hard Drives have a FAR higher capacity then any optical media, be it Bluray or HDDVD....and Hard Drives have MUCH faster data read speeds then any DVD or Blurray drive. Last, on PC, downloadable content is a perfect fit not to mention Rockstar can release as much downloadable content they want and dictate the terms they way they see fit without having to sign licensing deals like they do on consoles. Let's not forget mods.
See a trend?.....I sure do.Robnyc22With GTA3+ they had a deal with Sony that didn't allow them to release the PC version before 6 months after release, maybe this could make us get the PC release before the ~7 months trend I'm not expecting it though, I expect it to be released 7-9 months after console release... with a 1% chance of it being never

No, I see a BROKEN TREND.
I think it'll come out eventually, but at the same time I would not be suprised if it never comes out as a kick in the nuts to PC gamers for making hot coffee. Same with the new Manhunt game, it'll prolly be a few months till it makes it's PC release.
Why rockstar always hores them selves for the consols like this I shall never know.

Maybe because the series sold over 37 million on the PS2 alone? I am sure a port will come since the Xbox uses Direct3D.

How is it a "broken trend" if the PC version of every major GTA since GTA3 has consistantly arrived roughly 7 months after the initial console release? :|

The deal with Sony applied to only consoles and lasted for well over 6 months....it had no bearing on the PC release:

Take-Two clarifies that the recent Sony exclusivity deal is only for console versions of the GTA series.
hence the reason GTA3 released on PC before Xbox, and GTA3 was released on Xbox much later in the doube pack.

It's against my religion to play games on a console ^_^

You've played it already? That's cool.

That and because it's fun and its immitators haven't come close to matching the goodness of the GTA series.
GTA belongs on the PC if you ask me. I never quite got why it is so popular on consoles, I mean, to me at least, shooting is sort of awkward with a controller instead of a mouse. And about a half of GTA is about shooting.
I just hope there won't be too long between release for consoles and PC's.

Yeah I totally agree, and it makes me go insane when I see a PC GAME! being released on crappyconsoles before PC itself.
Thisbsall started with GTA III.
How can you aim with a controller anyway? it's just ridiculous...
But GTA IV will be on PC shortly after console release date as always, that's for sure, if they let down PC gamers(which gave themthe chance to be where they are today)they're a bunch of clowns.

I totally agree with everything you said. The only thing that works together with consoles is non-shooting games, and that means pretty much just driving games. And of course some others.
Can you imagine this guys: The next Half Life game being released on a console one year before the PC release...
The horrific thought almost makes me cry.
I cried in bed, each night for 5 weeks when I thought San Andreas wasn't coming out for the PC. .... Don't laugh.... It's not funny... I even made imaginary hate/begging - voice memos to Rockstar Games. I naturally never sent them though.
I'm ..... uh.. not a christian, but uhm... Let's pray for a GTA IV PC Version.
