I'd suggest a ATI 4770.

You need a 400-450w psu with a pci-e power connector, Most likely he has a prebuilt which has less then 350 watts and under 17A on the 12v rail. And depending on the prebuilt's maker, size of case he might not be able to get a new psu or use a normal profile gpu.

So I would get, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150426 - 9600gso (96SP's) $60 And it will run most games on high settings.

And hopefully can use this psu, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371006 - ANTEC 430w psu $50

how much are you willing to spend on the card? for 150, if the rest of your system is pretty good you can run crysis warhead.

Ya, running a medium to high end graphics card needs extra power which 98% of prebuilt Pc's dont have to run safely. That Graphics card will run even crysis on a mix of medium & high settings.
