I had a 9800 GTX+ that pissed in my face, so I had to replace it with my old 8600 GT. That sucked so I bought a cheapGT 440 that will be delivered tomorrow. Thinking that will do untill I buy a new comp in a few months.. Now after reading I see that my 9800 GTX+ might be alot better than the GT 440. Even tho I bought it two years ago. And the 440 is a new card.

Did i make a dumb choice since the difference between the 8600 GT and the 9800 GTX+ was not that much of a difference performance wise!?

Well it looks like a GT 440 is in the range of a 9600GT of performance.its a upgrade from a 8600gt buts its about 20% slower then a 9800GTX

Thanks man. The vendors has everything from 20 euros and 600 euros and 500 cards in between. Just a jungle. You made it easier for me when i build a new system.

No not really, The 9600GT was only around 15% slower then a 8800GT/9800GT, so a 8800GTS/9800GTX is only on average 5% faster then the 8800GT/9800GT. So 20% is around the right amount 30%+ is too much

The 8800GTS and the 9800GTX dont perform near eachother even if theyre based or nearly the same GPU they are not using a clock even remote simular to eachother.

The 9600GT is about 20% or more slower than the 8800GT.

The 9800GTX is atleast 30% faster than the 8800GT.

The GT440 ATLEAST 35%-40% slower than the 9800gtx perhaps even more.

Well I had a pretty heavily OCed 8800GTS 640MB which is slightly better than 9600GT and even though I didnt measure any absolute numbers, the upgrade to GTS 250 was pretty immense crysis being my main comparison as I was almost blown away by how much better I could run it.

Come on those charts are off , even still according to those charts 9800GTX vs 8800GTS 34 fps vs 30 fps at 1600x1200 does not equal to 30% thats only 12%,

Then the only real difference between a 9800GTX and a 9800GT is memory bandwidth and 12 Shader processors overall

Let alone I myself had two 8800GT's in SLI and one of my buddies had 9800GTX's in SLI with a much better cpu at the time he only had a 10-15 fps lead in Crysis or any other game.

The 8800GT and the 9800GTX are quite far from eachother.

There are thousands and thousands of benchmarks, they're not even near eachother.

That brings me to another question. What does GT, GTO, GTX etc mean?

I recived the card today and my Windows performance went from 5.9 to 6.7. It also supports Dx11. The 8600 GT only supported Dx9. Overall I am happy with the new card. Worth the cash no doubt.

Best option was perhaps to get a second 8600 GT but I only found one retailer and he wanted 120 Euros for it :-/
