First off! This 8400 GS is really cheap! Is it worth it?

  • 19' Monitor
  • Nvdia 6100(Current Card)
  • DVD/Cd Combo Drive
  • Realtek HD Audio

With that system, i would save and get an 8800GT, but otherwise the 8600GT, you can always step up with eVGAs program, and they are a good company.

Are you planning on playing the newest games or what?

I would say get the ATI 3850 HD 256 MB for only ~$50 more, it performs twice as better than the 8600 GT.

EVGA sure is afantastic company. But if u'r playing new games, sorry to say that you need something like 8800GT which will handle new games fairly enoguh or even more (Trust me those extra bucks will HELL worth it). Another point, i noticed that your PSU is only 300watt which isnt enoguh to run cards such as 8800GT, you should consider on getting 450~550w at least ;)

dont go below an 8600gt, theres a decent 8600gts on newegg, but if you have the money step up to the ati 3850 or 70 and if you really have the money go 8800 all the way
