Hi. I'm thinking of buying a new graphics card as I can't endure my intel GMA 3100 any more. I've found 3 cards in a local shop at my budget and got confused. They are, a 9500GT 1GB DDR2, a 9500GT 512MB DDR3, a 9600GSO 768MB DDR2. All are XFX brand. Can anyone please suggest me which one of them should I get? I would like to play new game titles in best settings possible for my. But note that, I've once played Half Life 2 on a pentium III 733MHz PC with nvidia Riva-TNT2 Vanta-LT 16MB Graphics card. With 640x480px resolution windowed mode and with acceptable framerates when the scene is not moving much. I know you'd tell me to get at least a 9600Gt with DDR3 memory, but I live in Bangladesh and graphics cards are not much easy to get here. First, new cards come very late, Then they're riddiculously priced (the 9600GSO i'm talking about is priced 7900TK = 114.5USD including taxes), finally, you can't find all models from all brands (I can't find any 9500GT from asus neither 9600GSO). A 9600 GT costs around 200USD here. So, the 9600GSo is my last choice for now according to price. my specs are also mid level. Core2Duo E7200 (2.53GHz, 3MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB). Asus P5K-VM Motherboard (G33, ICH9). 2GB DDR2 800MHz Ram (Dual channel. Planning of upgrading to 4GB, later 8GB 1066MHz).

I know the 9600GSO has all other specs much higher, notably the stream processors. The confusion comes from the DDR2 memory of 9600GSO. The 9500GT has DDR3.

The 9600GSO but I'm not convinced by the GDDR2 on that card. Why put that rubbish on it.

the hd3650 is actually worse than the 9600gso and the 9500gt for gaming

yes it does have gddr2 but that card is loosely compareable hardware wise (as its not JUST memory on there man) to an hd 4670. which can respectably handle games such as dawn of war 2, crysis, and bioshock all on high. and the next step down the 9500gt cant even squeeze out medium. idk it sells itself.

You people are rediculous. An ATI Radeon 4770 is only 110 dollars and is neck and neck with a Nvidia GTS 250. Did you guys know that a 220 dollar 4770 crossfire setup is arguably the highest performance to price ratio in the history of graphics cards? 2 4770s beat a GTX280. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-4770-crossfire,2288-11.html Keep in mind that the GTX280 is 350 dollars.

Easily one of the greatest price for performance ratios in gaming.

Edit: I just now saw that the OP is from bangldesh. OP, if you can afford this card, get it. It is far more powerful than the ones you have listed and is a great price.

Thanks everyone for your reply. I've decided to wait another month as there would be a new government budget published next month. There is a good chance of reducing budget from computer parts on that. So, I want to see if I can afford anything higher then. If I can't I'll go with the 9600GSO. And @ Metalphore, I can't afford the 4770 now.
