No simply no.Donot listen to anybody and dont get that card. The new GTS is available for just 5 pounds more.
People on this forum are just biased. They bought the GT and are just sad that the GTS is overall such a better card with only $10 more.People need to accept that the 8800GT is no longer a viable card anymore.Ofcourse no longer a viable card for the informed.

Well if you can find the GTS for only $10 more, then definitely do it. Most places have the GTS priced around $50 more. At that price difference, the GT is still a great buy for the price.

8800GTS 512MB isn't that much better than the GT,though for only 5 pounds more if true, then get that,no need to insult people you know >_>

What does bias have to do with not memorizing UK prices? The 8800GTS 512MB is around $50 more than the 8800GT in the US. I fail to see how that makes the 8800GT a suddenly "nonviable" card just because one etailer in the UK has a good deal on the 8800GTS 512MB.

So far Im edging towards the GT, Im having great reviews on it and for a person of my experience I don't think I need THE latest and greatest graphics card kind of thing.

Souless_Soul: Thanks for the information but your attitude isnt helpful. But on the other hand, if you (or anybody else) could find me a link to the graphics card he was talking about it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

But GTS extra cost isnt just for the increase stock performance. You will get better speeds, lower temps in your case and more space to OC your card.
So if you feel that you can afford to get the new GTS then go with it, altough the GT is defenitily is agreat purchase.

This is very true, I constantly see people recommending the GT over the new 512 GTS when it's blatantly clear that the 8800GTS-512 is clearly the better buy. Most people I see recommending the card already have it, all you have to do is look at their sig and it always says the "GT." So I too would recommend the 8800GTS-512 (G92). Here in the states it's only 40-$50 more than the GT which definitely isn't that much more for an 15% performance increase which is noticeable in Crysis and WIC. So I wish people would stop suggesting the 8800Gt already when the GTS makes more sense!

well yeah your right people do recommend it even though the GTS is better but the more knowledgeable people on the forums will recommend what best, because whether you like it or not the 8800GT is still a great price at that price range.

Ignorance. US and UK isn't the only places in the world which sells Nvidia cards alright. Come on over to Asia and any part of the countries here, the prices of 8800GTS 512mb are way more than just "$40-$50" or 5 pounds more.

I live in Malaysia, the price flunctuation difference between the 8800GTS 512mb and 8800GT is an average of $400. Now, go tell me if thats worth that 10% performance increase in Crysis. FYI, $400 can last you a month of food here. Think before you say something stupid and ignorant.

I'm not saying the 8800GTS 512mb isn't a good card. Its just not worth it. Sure, the opposite can be said if you live in the US.

i have the GTX and i reccomend the GT if your on a tight budget but want the best price/performance ratio and the GTS for ppl with more money to spare and want a slighly better card tan the GT and the GTX if you rich/an entusiast and want the best performance without worring about price and the Ultra if your insane and want just the little edge over the GTX

Well maybe you are right. But mostly, everybody wont recommend to get Ultra over the GTX because its abit waste of money. In the sametime, everyone says that if you can afford to get the new GTS over GT then definitly go to that route not because of performance only (This is the case between GTX/Ultra) but its also becauuse of the dual slot cooler, having less temps and also awide range of OCing your card

Ok put it this way, I am on a strict budget of £250, bearing in mind I also need a decent mobo. So is the perfomance increase of a GTS over the GT worth me paying the extra money, around £40 UK im guessing.

I am not a major huge PC gamer, however I would appreciate being able to run most games at high or max settings. I also don't really give a **** about maxing Crysis, though I would like a decent framerate with quite high quality graphics.

go for the 8800GT if your on a budget, because you shouldn't skimp on your motherboard, definetly go for the 8800GT thats the best option for you atm.
