Hey everyone!!!! I need your help :)

I need a good graphics card... prefer to spend up to 150$ but willing to go 175$. Here are my specs:

Vista Home Premium

AMD64 X2 Dual Core 5200+ (2.6Ghz)

2GB ram

400GB hard drive

300W Power supply (seems to limit me)

Lightscribe DVD/CD burner

GeForce 6150LE integrated graphics

Would DX10 capabilities matter if I didn't get a 8800GTS or GTX???? Idk the power supply is really limiting so what do you guys think is the best for me?

8600GT is the best you can get if your PSU isn't good.

I just noticed that... that's a pretty good bargain...

Everyone else agree that the 8600GT for 99$ is the best for what I'm looking for?

So wait 8600GT has DX10 and the upper end 7900 only has DX9?

Does the performance difference really overweigh the fact that the 8600GT has DX10.

I'm so lost :(

Don't worry about Dx 10,the 8600GT is a bit slower than the 7900GS,but its much cheaper and can run on crappy PSU's like yours.

Also it seems the 7900 series requires a 350W power supply according to the BFG product specs sheet from their site?

I wouldnt be able to use that with a 300W power supply, would I?

The 7900gs would run but there might be a small gamble, eventually, of if your PSU could take it.
If you don't mind the small performance difference, the 8600gt is a nice card.

I don't think the OP is willing to take a chance like that, but its his choice,we're just trying to help him make the right choice :P

Nah I'm not really interested in taking a chance. Nothing would be hurt on the computer if it didn't work though right?

Aaron so you think the 8600GT would be like 95% chance of being compatible with a 300W psu? I do have things like a TV Tuner card and other optional things in use... idk if it makes much difference.

It shouldn't make much of a difference, the 8600GT consumes ONLY 43 watts,so as long as you have at least 20 amps on the PSU's 12V rail then you're good.
